    T5HO for 7', 200G Long Aquarium

Hello All, Running two 4'x2' T12 fixtures over my 7' 200G long and the fixture hanging over the edge is driving me nuts. T5HO seems to be a good bet, but I could use advice on the following: 1. Light Fixture Quantity/Size. Should I run two 4', 2-tube fixtures for a total of 216W? These...

    Fluorescent ballast for MH lamp?

Stupid question time--I have ballasts to run two 40W T12 lamps. Can I use this ballast to run a single large MH lamp? Or am I "mixing my chickensh*t and applesauce" as my grandmother would say?

Dual 4'x2' Fluorescent fixtures for 200g Long; Also, Lifting Rig

I'll probably end up using these fixtures--former office lighting and it's what I have. At $20 apiece (plus new bulbs) you can't really go wrong. I'll build a hood for them, the question is how to raise it up for maintenance. My engineer-brain is working on this one, will let you all know...

Dual 4'x2' Fluorescent fixtures for 200g Long; Also, Lifting Rig

I'm confused--why angle the lights outward rather than inward? The lights won't fit on the tank if mounted level, they are two 4' long fixtures to be mounted on a 7' long tank. This will be a freshwater setup. I'm not planning on planting it at first--perhaps in the future. Initial setup...

Dual 4'x2' Fluorescent fixtures for 200g Long; Also, Lifting Rig

Good Evening All, The 200g freshwater build begins. I have two 4'x2' fluorescent light fixtures to place on top of my 2'x2'x7' 200g tank. Planning on having each light angled so they form a "peak" at the middle of the 7' span, that way they fit over the 7' long aquarium. Has anyone ever done...

Are the fish still available? I'm in the Kansas City area and would come pick them up if available.

Crushed Coral Cloudiness bad for fish?

I've got a scotch-brite texture cylinder intake on the dip tube for the filter, nothing huge has made it into the impeller so far (I pulled the impeller last night and, while there were bits of grit in the back of the filter, the impeller was undamaged). I'll keep an eye on it, though. Some...

Crushed Coral Cloudiness bad for fish?

Stress Zyme was on sale at WM--so I dropped a dose into the back part of the filter. Hopefully something was still alive in the bottle and can help the process along. The bit-o-filter from a friend came to me this morning--nice n' gross, hopefully that will help the process along as well...

Crushed Coral Cloudiness bad for fish?

Thank you for calming my fears, Mr. eco. I've done an 84% water change and it has helped considerably, but still cloudy. I wouldn't have gotten rid of so much water if my tank was properly cycled, but these fish were rescues needing a new home so they were introduced to this environment a bit...

Crushed Coral Cloudiness bad for fish?

Hello, Just switched substrate to crushed coral in my 25g freshwater tank--apparently didn't rinse well enough as the thing is super cloudy. Is this bad for the fish? I've changed part of the water but it didn't seem to help. If it's not bad for the fish, I'll just wait for it to settle out...
