Can someone ID this for me?

Thank you! After googling your suggestion, that is exactly what it is. You are right! 10 years in the hobby and I have never come across this before... Never even heard of it! Thanks again!

It looks like some type of branching algae. What I have noticed is that if you remove it from water and it touches air, it turns black within seconds. https://imgur.com/a/9CeKD

    90 Gallon Setup, Questions/Stocking

2 Gallon! So, since I still have another 2 months until I get my 90 Gallon setup, I couldn't quite wait. I decided to start up my Fluval Spec Nano, 2 Gallon Aquarium again. No, I do not have any patience. The plant to the left is fake, but the plant to the right (and small one in the front)...

    Substrate, what kind?

100% Agreed. Might as well pay a bit more for the product and save on shipping costs. More than likely, the LFS would get the product sooner than it would be shipped to your house, anyway.

    Unplanned 100% WC underway.

Sorry to hear about your fish food debacle. I wouldn't worry about it too much. You should be fine. I think the ammonia test shows pretty close to 0.50ppm. Your gravel and filter will have bacteria in/on it already, so I wouldn't stress about it!

    The Sixty Gallon Build :)

May take a couple weeks, but once the algae is dead, it will decay and become a form of detritus, turning into ammonia, then nitrite, and finally used by your plants in the form of nitrate. Also known as the Fish Tank Ecosystem. :fish2:

Forget what the bottle says. You will not kill your fish. It's only carbon. Fish are made of carbon. And so are YOU! Dose it 2x (at least). I would dose it 2.5x or 3x, personally. The reason it says to not overdose is for reasons like crypts melting. Algae and plants are alike. If it kills...

75% for excel? You mean.... 175%? If you do not overdose, you won't do anything except waste Excel. At this point, because you have the H2O2, you best bet is to just keep using the H2O2 and dose maybe 2x the recommended dose with Excel. Yes, Excel will kill Green Algae, too, but only if you...

If you choose to use H2O2 (Hydrogen Peroxide), you should also turn off your lights in addition to the filter and powerhead. Light can break down H2O2 at a faster rate than if the lights were off. Best if you shut the whole system down. Filter, Powerhead, Lights. Also, if you have shrimp...

I think I might try the black background for my 90Gallon. In the past, I have always got the Gradient Blue (where it goes from light blue at the top, to dark blue at the bottom). The black looks nice though. I think it helps to bring out the focus on the plants more. Makes the plants appear...

Do you have just a Black Background taped to the outside of the glass at the back?

That picture you just posted.... That's a picture you took today? If so, your tank is beautiful and the algae is not that bad. You do not want to use an algaecide. You will regret it. Honestly.... just start dosing with Excel. Is it possible you can get some "closer" shots of where the algae...

    The Sixty Gallon Build :)

It's BBA? That's the worst kind. :nono::facepalm: Sorry to hear that. I would strongly, strongly advise you take those rocks out and scrub with a bleach solution. As I said before, it's just going to get worse and worse if you don't act now. Try to keep the tank as "natural" as possible (with...

    The Sixty Gallon Build :)

:rofl: With regards to the CO2, you could be right. Maybe it wasn't the CO2 that killed the fish previously. Who knows. If he leaves the algae on the rocks and the problem doesn't get solved soon, the algae could start spreading, making it harder to get rid of. That's my only concern...

Love the OAM Rainbow. I checked out oddballfish.com. Looks like a pretty decent website. I don't think they ship to Canada, though. Not a huge fan of the veiled Angels...
