So I moved the decorations around and he seems happier. Chills in the middle of the tank now right in front for the world to see.

My favorite was a betta that I had when I was 15. Got him right off the truck at a PetQuarters, they hadn't even had time to put him into one of those horrible cups. Brought him home and kept him in a huge fish bowl until I could wrangle a 2.5 gallon out of my mother. He lived for 4 years after...

Any suggestions? I just hate seeing him (or not seeing him) like this. My last 2 bettas were very inquisitive of what was going on in the room at all times.

Steady at 80. It's got a filter, but I've done everything known to man to slow the flow of water down. I did a water change this morning actually, thought it might help out. He came out to see what was going on but that lasted for about 30 seconds.

For about 2 weeks now. He's been doing it for the past week. He'll come out when you walk up to the tank if he thinks you're going to feed him, but once he figures out you aren't putting anything in, he swims back into hiding. Maybe he's just shy. He hasn't flared or built a bubble nest. I don't...

My betta seems to just chill in one corner of the tank. Would he come out more if I moved things around or would that stress him out?

How many different kinds of bettas are there?

I've been tryinig to find one. Was thinking of collecting bettas as a hobby.. Obviously providing them with the proper care and space. How much space does a betta actually need to be happy? Mine's swimming around in a 5.5 gallon right now...

The one I got now has the entire 5.5 gallon tank all to himself but he only stays in the back corner near the heater (set at 78-79) and keeps blowing bubbles on it. Every few minutes he'll blow a new bubble. Don't know why he's doing this.. Any suggestions??

He is gorgeous! Wish I could find one like him. Mine's an electric blue with some purple and pink.

Was considering taking all of my fish back and getting a betta instead. I'm just not at home as much as I expected to be, and taking care of them is becomming a juggling act. Are there any major downsides to having a betta that I should be aware of?

lol it's gonna take a while then.. The mollies open their mouths pretty wide when they feed and I've seen them moving the rocks around in the bottom of the tank... I may just take the chance and let him go. I've been considering exchanging them for a betta. I think one would be happy in a 5.5...

Ok. So the people at my lfs have no idea what they're talking about lol.. Thanks for the help. Could having two males be the reason that the black one is stressed out? Should I bring one of the males back and ask for a female?

I tried.. Here's the best ones I could get without removing him from the tank.. I think that would have stressed him out even more.
