I get most of my supplies on-line at Drs. Foster and Smith. Spend $49.00 and the shipping is free. I've used them for many years and I've never been disappointed in the service or products I bought. I also get my dog supplies from them.
I have several pieces of driftwood in my tanks. I got them from my local fish store or on-line. I soaked them in a bucket of water for a few hours and then put in my tanks. They did not change the color of my water.
I feed my Rainbow shark at night just before I go to bed. I drop in an algae wafer. He/she loves them. They will come out more at night and hid more during the day.
The white stuff that has built up is probably minerals from the water. I get that too on my tank. If your is on the glass I suggest scraping it off
with a single edge razor blade. I use vinegar to get rid of mine, but mine is on the glass top which I can take off to clean.
For the past 4 yrs I've been using cool tap water and I haven't had any problems. I get the water close to the temperature in the tank. I add a few drops of Prime and put it right in the tank. You don't have to let the water sit before using it.
A 7 gallon container would be very heavy. I had some 4 gal containers and I finally gave them away because they were just too heavy for me. I use tap water every week for water changes. I add a few drops of Prime and then put it in my tanks right away.
Not all parrots are aggressive. I have three of them and they get along with the other fish in the tank that also has silver dollars, angels and firemouths. They all get along just fine.
I have a water softener and I've been using that water for my two tanks for 4 1/2 years with no problem. The salt makes the softener work but there is no salt in the water. I test my water and it still has a high PH.
I had HOB filters for both of my tanks. I switched to Fluval canister filters and I love them. They're very quiet and the tank water is crystal clear. I ordered mine online from Drs. Foster and Smith. I paid a lot less than if I bought them at a LFS.
I made the same mistake a few years ago. Only change one piece of media at a time. If you keep the tank too clean you're cleaning out too much of the beneficial bacteria and there isn't enough left to break down the ammonia. That's why your tank got cloudy, you have a bacteria bloom. Do smaller...
I buy RO water and I add a small amount of Replenish to it. You only need to use a small amount. It replaces the minerals. A bottle lasts about a year and I do weekly water changes on my 75 & 45 gal tanks. I buy it from Drs Foster & Smith or my lfs. I don't think Petsmart or Petco carry it and...
