Yep I agree w/Callisto, If you over feed your fish you also help to produce more snails. More food for fish = more waste = more snail food = more snail! Another trick is to turn out the lights, put a piece of (rinsed well) Iceberg lettuce on the bottom of the tank, wait about 30min to an hour...

Yes if they are half out of the water at the top they are usually having babies. Careful not to get to many! I have a few and they eat all the algae and dead plants so I like em!

I have 4 Gold barbs, 3 Cherry and 2 panda cats, they seem to get along great, and they are full of energy. If you get guppies they are live bearing so you have free fish food if you don't separate the babies. Just watch the barbs with the fish that have fins, I started with 2 golds and 1 panda...
