    Breeding guppies

Make sure there are lots of hiding spaces for the fry. I personally have some clumps of Java moss in a corner of my tank, and driftwood. Once you have fry (trust me it won’t take long), make sure water qualities are ideal because they can be very fragile.

LED lights for planted vs. Non-planted in 5.5 G

True, I read up on that and thought maybe I’ll glue then to the drift wood or lift them up higher from the substrate. Thanks for the tip!

LED lights for planted vs. Non-planted in 5.5 G

Hi all, I’m currently setting up a Sakura 5.5 G planted tank. There’s some Anubias, crested java fern, and. “tropica fern” (never heard of but got it at petco, looks like normal java fern to me). My tanks not filled with them, but I’d like to give my plants the best chance at thriving! As of...

...did I really just cycle my tank in 2 days?

Hi everyone! I'm setting up a Sakura 5.5 gal. I am cycling the tank using seeded media from a filter sponge I got from my established 30 G (cut it down to size to fit my Azoo Mignon 60), and I'm also using a filter intake from an established 40 G that I also have. After setting it up, I...

aqua farm the self cleaning tank.

I remember seeing this as a Kickstarter and was so intrigued that i was almost convinced on donating (I ended up passing on it) Anyway the local Petco had one on display, with a Betta and plants growing. I would periodically stop in and notice the tank, and slowly but surely at around 3-4 weeks...

    Red cherries & HOB filter

Awesome info, thanks khuligirl. I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience of having shrimp without the filter. Ill try it out. I'm just so worried about losing them bc the mom pop LFS is closing and I got the last of them, and it is/was the only place that ever carries them! Gotta hate...

    Red cherries & HOB filter

I don't plan on breeding them. I don't like the sponge because I'm worried the filter isn't cleaning a bit of the waste, debris, ect in the tank. Would the RCS risk of getting stuck/suck up in the filter without a sponge or panty hose?

    Red cherries & HOB filter

I have a 10g tank with a fluval HOB filter. I added 4 RCS and put a sponge on the intake to prevent the shrimp from getting sucked out. Is this precaution necessary? Or can I take the sponge off without fear of losing my RCS?

    New to the hobby

I have neon tetras and fancy guppies in my tank, and they get along well! If your kid loves staring at the tank now, just imagine how it will be when it's stocked :) Your tank looks awesome- welcome to the forums!

    Gross!!! So angry!!

Why wouldn't they take that one back? That's not good business practice at all!

    Glo tetras

+1 on bamboo shrimp. They *shouldnt* negatively impact the stock of your tank. I liked mine, but I couldn't handle their molts (I'm squeamish like that) and eventually re homed them. I'm afraid a crayfish would try to use some of your stock as a fresh meal, but since I haven't kept crayfish...
