Make sure there are lots of hiding spaces for the fry. I personally have some clumps of Java moss in a corner of my tank, and driftwood. Once you have fry (trust me it won’t take long), make sure water qualities are ideal because they can be very fragile.

I don't plan on breeding them. I don't like the sponge because I'm worried the filter isn't cleaning a bit of the waste, debris, ect in the tank. Would the RCS risk of getting stuck/suck up in the filter without a sponge or panty hose?

I have a 10g tank with a fluval HOB filter. I added 4 RCS and put a sponge on the intake to prevent the shrimp from getting sucked out. Is this precaution necessary? Or can I take the sponge off without fear of losing my RCS?

+1 on bamboo shrimp. They *shouldnt* negatively impact the stock of your tank. I liked mine, but I couldn't handle their molts (I'm squeamish like that) and eventually re homed them. I'm afraid a crayfish would try to use some of your stock as a fresh meal, but since I haven't kept crayfish...

I went to Australia/New Zealand for 18 days...the house sitter completely forgot to feed my 3 tanks for the entirety of the trip....came back horrified and scared to see the damage...and surprisingly, no casualties! So 4 days? Piece of cake :)

So I have frozen BBS from Hakari that come in individual servings. Even with three tanks, I find that I never finish the single serve packets entirely in one feeding. My question is would the Frozen BBS be okay in room temp to serve throughout the day? Or will I have to re freeze the little...

You should be fine with the advice given here :) I had the same scare when Superstorm Sandy hit. There were a few days where my tropical fw tank dipped to the 60s, but the fish were fine, just were as active as they are in warmer weather. Good luck! And try to stay warm :)

She still doesn't look like she's on the brink of going into labor. She's a nice sized guppy, i can imagine her potential to bare a nice sized batch of fry is most likely. Her stomach will square off like a big box before she starts birthing, and it doesn't look like that to me right now.

It could've just been a "bad batch" of neons that you got from. I had 6 neons before and all of them died within 2 months. When I decided to restock, the new set of 6 neons are hardy as ever (even survived a 17 day no-feeding fiasco...long story short my house keeper only watched my guinea...
