Hi guys,
I just wanted to know some opinions.
I am looking a changing my superfish XL filter over to having only a Fluval U2 filter as I like it better and it looks easier to clean etc.
I have had the superfish running for around 1.5 years And and I have only just added the Fluval into the...
Mine took around 2 months too! Although it was an accidental fish in cycle as I didn’t know any better at that point until I did a load of research.
I’m sure the daily water changes slowed the process down however
All I did when my fish got ich is drop them into a 2.5 gal and put around 2 teaspoons of aquarium salt and left them In there for 2 days, I didn’t even add a heater.
Days days later dropped them back into the main aquarium and all now fine! 1 also had fin rot and before I discovered it was fin...
Sound like a good tank size for just 1 gold fish, but good that you are not looking at putting anymore in just yet as could cause problems.
Goldfish produce a lot of waste.
However I think now all you gotta do is read up on the fish in cycle. And some of the links posted above seem pretty...
Sounds like you did a good job sorting it! I lost a couple of fish due to it as well as I though it was my shrimp attacking the fish.
A few weeks later realised it was in fact an infection.
But all seem okay now after the odd fish being treated in a separate tank and a few water changes on the...
Very nice tank, what are you using for substrate? As above, can’t believe you are only getting away with excel in that tank.
How long has it been set up for?
I had White spot not too long ago, and aquarium salt did the job for me.
Moved the fish while being treated to a 2.5 gallon for a few days though! They also started getting fin rot before I moved them
Not that I have ottos, but when my lights go off sometimes my platys sometimes start hitting the gravel and going a bit crazy for 5 mins until they get used to the dark.
Doesn’t happen as much anymore as I think they are now used to it (had them 2 years or so now) but I think it may be normal...
I’d say leave it how it is, the thing with nitrite is that one day you will test the water and all of a sudden they will have just plummeted to 0.
That’s what happened when I was cycling mine, literally happened overnight
I hope you don’t have to do this, however you should read up on euthanising by using clove oil!
This appears to be the most humane way of putting fish down, and I have done quite a bit of research into it and the ice water way appears to cause a lot of stress and it can take some time.
Clove...
So say the platys were removed, would other fish be okay do you think?
And do you think that the reason why the platys have survived so long is because my tank parameters are optimal for them and therefore they are able to fight off infections easier than the rest?
Many thanks for your help...
Hmm thanks coral, that is a very interesting article and something I have not actually thought of before.
I currently have 1 of my minnows in a quarantine tank with a mix a aquarium salt in as I read somewhere this should help.
But what you and this article is saying is I should never return...
