    What is this??

Could use some help trying to decide what to do with this poor guy. A few days ago noticed him swimming oddly and what looked like some internal bruising or bleeding (hooray xray tetra can see right through him). It looked like maybe his liver to me and I thought maybe he'd gotten into it with...

I've only had this betta 4 hours already a problem!

I just peeked and he seems somewhat more upright this morning. I do have one of those fake floating betta logs but I hadn't put it in the tank because I was worried about how much room it took up, then last night I was scared to put it in there when I couldn't keep an eye on him to make sure it...

I've only had this betta 4 hours already a problem!

I'll move the other heater in there. I hadn't had an issue with the preset ones before and I find with the adjustables I spend a lot of time worrying that I'm going to cook the fish. But I never realized that they maybe weren't as effective. I'll look for some driftwood for the tank...thanks!

I'll give it a couple of days and see how he does. He really looked very healthy when I bought him...still holding out hope this will pass.

I've only had this betta 4 hours already a problem!

The high pH is something I've struggled with...it's just our water here and no matter what I do that's right where it is. I'll try the driftwood (soak it for a few weeks first, right?). He was perfectly upright when I first put him in the tank and he looked good...hoping this is just stress and...

I've only had this betta 4 hours already a problem!

I've been looking forward to getting a betta for a while now. I cycled a 5 gallon aquarium and today went to get the betta for it. I found a blue crowntail that appeared to be in very good shape...no fin damage, no spots or skin issues, perked right up when I turned the little cup on the shelf...

    ADFs mating CONSTANTLY

Hey all. I've got 2 African dwarf frogs in my 36 gallon community tank. I've had them for almost 2 years and for the most part they do very well and seem quite happy. More and more lately though I've noticed that they're almost constantly mating. I've never seen eggs (although they could be...

Is he otherwise behaving normally? How's his color?

    Cory questions

My tank is planted but not *nearly* to the extent of the one in your first post. There are still a handful of hiding spots and my 4 cories sometimes disappear but I can usually at least spot them. I find that when I feed my dwarf frogs their blood worms it becomes a big cory party as they come...

    Tetras that dont nip

My red minor serpae tetras are quite nippy. They harassed a couple of mollies relentlessly. Had to move the mollies to another tank but they never quite recovered. My pristilla xray tetras are much calmer and very pretty...school tightly and the silver shimmers in low light. I don't know how...

Getting my first betta - what else do I need?

So my tank is officially cycled! I did the water change this evening to get the nitrates down and put in some more live plants. Mostly low growing so he'll have a decent amount of space to swim but also places to hide. I'm going tomorrow to get one. Weirdly excited!

    Dead fish! Help!

To clarify, nitrates in your tank is good because it means you have the good bacteria and it means your tank is cycling/cycled, but you want to keep them low because high concentrations will make the fish sick. My nitrates when I lost my cory were well above the range that is healthy for the fish...

    Dead fish! Help!

I agree that cycling may be an issue. Did the guy at the pet store say if you had nitrates? In my experience cories are pretty hardy but I've also found that when something is wrong with the water they're sometimes the first to have trouble...perhaps because they're bottom dwellers? I don't...
