I just ordered a 25w from bigalsonline - they had a couple available! (just FYI) I bought the Walmart one too but after seeing it has no temp control I am returning it.

yup - I did a 50% water change today and I have a bacterial bloom starting. That plus the fact that I added my old filter into the tank --- I think they will be ok for right now. They are looking really good. Not stressed so......I am just going to have to figure out what to do when they grow...

Looking at my fish I am pretty sure all of the lyretails are female and just the one male sailfin. of course who knows about the fry!

I tested just the other day and ammonia was up. I cut up my filter from my established tank and stuffed it in there! Hopefully that will help! We have only had the tank a week or so. I was thinking I was being conservative with the 4 fish LOL :oops:

thanks for the warning -- I didn't realize they got so big! We will have to see what happens and maybe upgrade!

my son just got a 10g. tank and we purchased 4 mollies. 2 black lyretail, 1 white lyretail and one white sailfin. How do you tell the sexes between the fish? The sailfin is pretty obvious but I have no clue with the lyretail. Obviously one is a female because we have 4 little fry swimming...

Have you tried Biospira - I haven't been around here much lately so I don't know what the current thought about that is, but last year when my tank wouldn't cycle I added it and it cycled in about a week! I know how frustrating it is when it won't cycle. I didn't have any success with the biozyme.

I moved my tank nearer to a window and now I am plagued with algae. I have a bristle nose pleco, but unless he is really active at night, I never see him budge from the "castle". I have live plants so chemical algae controllers won't work for me. Any suggestions except for moving my tank away...

We have a 20 gallon. Moderately planted. 1 dwarf frog 1 gold snail 5 roberti tetras 2 upside down catfish 2 turquoise rainbows (new) 2 boesemi rainbows (trouble makers) I am guessing that I have a male and female boesemi and the one is pretty colorful which makes me assume it is pretty full...

We just added some new fish to our tank and the male (i'm assuming) is a bit aggressive. He has staked half the tank out as his own and chases all the other fish away! Should I take him back to the lfs or should he calm down once he is used to the tank?

LOL - I was just thinking of getting some guppies for my tank - hmm maybe I will stick to my original idea of rainbows!
