I have a 20 gallon (long) planted tank with 8 serpae tetra and 3 otos. I was wanting to add a cockatoo cichlid but the only website I found sells them as a pair. As far as tank size and stocking goes, would this be ok?
Thanks!
20 gallon long
30x13x13 (inches)
2 medium size patches of dwarf hair grass and a large fully grown amazon sword plant
I bought it used with a 96W Power Compact lighting system (getting rid of this is not really an option at the moment). I have been having some problems recently with hair algae...
I got a 20g tank off of Craigslist almost 2 weeks ago at this point. When I got it, there was a serious green water problem that I cleared up with some partial water changes daily. But now there is some sort of algae that is still on the dwarf hairgrass. Any ideas as to what it is and how to...

Currently I have 10 Serpae Tetras and 2 Otos in a SA themed biotope. Could I add another Oto or 2, another school of Tetras, and a GBR without it being overstocked?
Bought tank off craigslist
So I just picked up a 3 month old tank and got it set up in my apartment. It is a 20 gallon planted tank that came with an AquaClear 50, 96 W Power Compact light fixture, a substrate of Eco-Complete, basic chemicals including fertilizers. There are dwarf hair grass...
Hello all!
I am an aquarium newbie, but have been looking into starting this exciting hobby. I have been doing a lot of research and was just looking for some sound advice. I want to do a planted (moderate to heavy) aquarium with a sort of South American biotope feel to it. I want to make it...
