I've put in a brussel sprout before tied to a stone and they and tell that. you can and also put lettuce leaf in. there are loads of green vegetables you can add (don't add loads though as it can affect water balance). just check online... I found a list, I just can't remeber them all right now...

I don't see many.... my local fish store only has one out of the hundreds of 'normal' thermometers. they are expensive too. (£15 vs £2) but I had a voucher lol

happy that betta is going strong :) and your tank set up looks awesome :) are you still after tank mates? I have my betta with a shrimp and 2 zebra snails (I have a 5 gallon). my betta use to go for my shrimp but soon learned that little dude (yes I named my shrimp that hahaha) was way too fast...

I've definatly have had my share of mistakes. I've only been fish keeping since November so no doubt I'll make more! but you sharing our mistakes does help others (or at the very least it taught me something I had not considered before, and how cold water can be an immediate danger).

I forgot to keep an eye on the bucket I siphon water into once... you can imagine the outcome!!!! now I siphon out of the window haha
