Help identifying this growth on my rock?

OK Thanks- I'll let it continue to grow, neat addition to the nano...I'll also look into pictures of macro algaes to see if I can figure out exactly what it is.

Help identifying this growth on my rock?

This thing has been growing pretty quickly in my nano...and I noticed a smaller version on the same rock, which is also in the picture. I have to admit it looks kind of neat...

    Snail ID unfortunately no picture

Thanks! It actually looks a lot like the picture, with the yellow tip on the snout. The shell certainly has ridges, but it is not white as explained in the link- just covered in corraline algae or perhaps it is not, and it is mostly dark-medium red. I'll examine more.

    Snail ID unfortunately no picture

Over the past year I've had several snail and crab deaths (emerald), all unexplained. I recently downgraded from a 90g to 12g nano, transporting the snails that were still alive. I just added four new astreas, and almost immediately one of my very long-lasting snails - from about 3 yrs ago...

First nano dx (12g) setup; cleaning habit question

I'll try out something and report back on this forum.

First nano dx (12g) setup; cleaning habit question

I have lr rubble in the chambers, and will be putting chaeto in the 2nd chamber. Ultimately I believe pods will grow in the chamber and in the display tank. So yes- again a coarse mesh. The idea being to take all of the lr rubble out it is pulling one string to get the bag, then siphoning...

Completely removing leather coral from rock

Great I'm proceeding with that plan.

First nano dx (12g) setup; cleaning habit question

Yes I think I read your posts before, Lando, thanks for the added info. I've been thinking of adding more LR rubble to the 2nd chamber...question. Can you put the LR rubble in a filter sock (a course mesh), and then put that in a chamber, so you can easily just pull the sock out when you want...

Completely removing leather coral from rock

I'm transferring stock from a 90g to a nano tank. I have a very nice leather coral (Lobophytum) that is firmly attached to a rock which is encrusted in algae. I'd love to take the coral off of this rock and put it on a new one. I have read several articles re: propagating a coral, but is...

First nano dx (12g) setup; cleaning habit question

That's kind of what I was figuring... i may try to siphon the lr rubble chamber occasionally to pick up free floating debris, but I think the floss will catch most of that. Thanks!

First nano dx (12g) setup; cleaning habit question

I just setup my first nano, I'm downgrading from a 90g and moved ls, lr from this tank to the nano. It looks great! Based on scouring this forum and others I have configured the nano as follows: 1. Cassette mod and notches at the top of the intake for better surface skimming (this is a...

Getting Started? How about Getting Out - LR advice

I'm going to tear down my 90g tank, and "REDO" maybe in a year or two. I've had enough battling with my hair algae, and with the kids and summer don't have the time to do daily harvesting. My question is this - with my LR being covered in algae - not completely but big chunks of it - could I...

Algae problems - is this algae?

Pls refence my prior post http://www.aquariumadvice.com/viewtopic.php?t=76867&highlight= with the topic "Algae out of control". I've been doing a number of things to try to get the algae under control to almost no avail. I also took one of the "algae" covered rocks and placed it into a...

Any additional advice...algae out of control

Thanks everyone for your replies. As far as photoperiod - there are 4 lights in the T5 (54w each bulb), two pairs of aquablue and blueplus. They first pair goes on at around 8 am and off at 7 pm, second pair on at 10 am and off at 4 pm...it was like that... Previously I had blueplus & daylight...
