Your tank is probably too small to sustain the pod population and a mandarin unless you find some other way to supplement the pods (large fuge for instance). Also you need to make sure that you don't have any other fish that eat pods.

Actually I lied ... one more complaint ... :) There were about 8 brittle stars in my box -- some of them pretty big but they were all placed under the rocks so by the time they got to me they were a mush of legs and star bodies. I'll assume that they all somehow went under the rock themselves...
