Thanks. I've been pretty surprised with how healthy the plants have looked. However I DO NOT like how cloudy it leaves the tank. I took this picture Wednesday early evening and I dose around 6am.
You could always add a sidthmuntki loach. They are small, awesome to watch, and great snail hunters. Including mts, they do a great job keeping my 125 in check.

Those swords should work but don't buy more. Let one prove its got a good hold on the tank and then let the runners it forms fill in the rest. If you want them to work you absolutely need to use root tabs. Check out my thread in the planted...
I've been happy with how all the leaves are growing in, haven't seen signs of nutrient deficiency but I don't think it's anything better than excel. It's been 3 weeks and ill be surprised if the bottle of envy makes it past a month.

I'm sorry you don't have a tank of an appropriate size, since it sounds like this is your first fish tank perhaps you really should consider neons or platys...
Snails have the potential to leave a tank but usually are more likely to do so when water parameters are too high.
I like the idea behind this, did you plan to glaze the clay and fire again? It should be able to hold the weight no problem.
Around the 2 1/2" mark it will be easier, the only true way is to vent them. Females are likely to bring on make physical traits when they are more dominant.
