I just got Sheldon, to keep in my bettas tank. He's kind of shy right now.

How much salt? He's in a 3.5 gallon tank. Would it be just under a tablespoon or a bit more?

I think my betta has started to get this. I checked ammonia level and it was high. I changed our water and levels are all normal again.

I know some people that have the male and female together without a divider in the tank. So far everything is good in their tank. I'm thinking of buying a female. What do you suggest? Separate housing or togetherness?

Thanks. I couldn't have don't it without all the knowledgeable people here because the people that work in the pet stores, sadly are not trained. When I first got the smaller tank and my fish, I was told I didn't need a filter or heater. I'm in NC, so yes maybe no heater now but it does get cold...

Thank you to all the replied. I purchased a test kit and tested the water. The ammonia level was 0. I changed about a third of the water in the tank, it's a 3.5 gallon. I use Spring Water in his tank. I tested it the next day and was still 0. My fish seems fine and the white mark is almost gone.

The plants in background are real. The one in very front is so soft I wouldn't have thought it could hurt it.
