Will Seachem Prime give me a false negative ammonia reading?

Day 5, still no ammonia. Is it possible that my plant is using it? I'm just really confused because with feeding them everyday there should be some sort of reading. Plus the water is slightly fogging but apparently the fish waste thats in there isn't producing any ammonia? Any other ideas...

Will Seachem Prime give me a false negative ammonia reading?

Started cycling my 20g tank a few days ago. I have 4 zebra danio in there and feed them daily. I used a double dose of seachem prime as a conditioner/detoxifier after having trouble with my tap water 4 days ago. My question is, will prime stop my tests from picking up on the ammonia? I...

How long until first ammonia spike?

Update: The color of the ammonia test is not 100% yellow anymore (0.0ppm), but is still not green enough for that .25ppm area. So I would say its getting there but slowly. At what reading should I do a water change for the fish?

How long until first ammonia spike?

Just started a fish-in cycle with 4 danios yesterday. They've been in a little over 24 hours with no ammonia readings thus far. I have one nubius nana plant in there and my temp. is 78 degrees. When can I expect to see the ammonia rise? 20 gallon tank PH: 7.5 Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: < 5

Question about API Test Kit results

I have the API master test kit. According to the instructions it says to wait 5 minutes for the test results to appear, but I've noticed that when I leave them out longer than that (30mins) the results change slightly. For example after the first 5 minutes my nitrate result said 5.0ppm but...

My tap water I use is killing my fish.

Hey guys, this morning I found another danio dead, but he seemed really sick the whole day yesterday, so I think there was no saving him. On a brighter note, I did another 2.5 gallon water change today with spring water conditioned with prime. Tested the water later today and my results were...

My tap water I use is killing my fish.

Thanks, good to know I'm not the only one. I got my nitrites and ammonia down with spring water but my nitrates are still getting around 10ppm. I guess time and water changes will tell if the last of the danios will survive. What is a "safe" nitrate reading?

My tap water I use is killing my fish.

Thanks for your response. I've decided to just by some 2 gallon jug(s) of spring water at the grocery store and mix it with the tap, on top of that i'll add prime so i can get those test results down. Using just my tap is poisoning my fish so mixing it with spring water is the only thing I can...

My tap water I use is killing my fish.

I recently set up a 20 gallon tank. I decided to cycle it with fish (I know fishless is better but it is what it is). I bought 4 zebra danios to cycle it with. One died shortly after being put in my tank (looked like swim bladder wasn't working, it was swimming upside down and what not before...
