Are you seeing any nitrite? If the ammonia is remaining your bacteria have died off and you will need to wait for you tank to cycle again.

I lost mine through a 1" hole in the back of my canopy, where he immediately became a fresh snack for my girlfriend's cat. If there is a hole a sixline will find it.

Everyone that I know that uses IO has cyano problems. Saying that IO and RC are made by the same company so they must both be crappy doesn't make alot of sense. Remember the Aveo and the Corvette Z06 are made by the same company. :wink: RC may not be the absolute best salt on the market, but...

I have used IO and hated it. I switched to Reef Crystals and love it, fish look better, disolves faster, less nuisance algae, i'm very pleased.

okay, therin is where my confusion lies. so with jewels and kribs not being from the rift lakes, do they still thrive in the same hard, high ph water as the rift lake species? is there lack of aggression the only thing which makes them not compatible with mbuna?

I think a 250 would be sufficient, as that tank is not very deep. If you arent' using any suplemental actinics, i would use a 14K to get a little blue, but not too much.
