I agree they shouldn't be sold to the general public. But I've seen them kept in absolutely huge tanks and indoor ponds happily. Although these tanks measured into the 800 gallon plus range. A license to keep these monsters should be implemented in my opinion.

Well to start off I had been shopping at this store for roughly 3 years. Great relationship with the owner and employees they know I'm a bit obsessive and picky with my fish so they tell me to net and bag my own. Works great for me I get the exact one I want. I'm going throw a very similar problem in my freshwater tank except no ammo lock. Check to make sure your filters are flowing mine wasn't and needed a quick fix up.

Have you thought of lighting? And I agree small reefs are not the best for beginners but with dedication they are completely possible. Research every fish and invert you intend to put in the tank and do your best not to impulse buy. Keep the bio load as light as possible

Sadly with work and study in the new year 97 hours combined. I've taken down my reef and donated livestock to friends who have the resources to take it. I couldn't bare to watch the tank suffer as I doubt I would have had time to maintain it.

Your sand may not be perfectly white but maybe look at in from a different view. Neithers the oceans what you've got is just all manner of life down to the tiny creatures in the sand. Just a little Eco system Not to useful just hoping that maybe if you looked at it from a different perspective...
