First, this site is awesome in that there are so many cool, smart and helpful people to come in the rescue, and for this, I thank you all!
I wanted a "pet" to be with me in the cubicle world where it always seems so daft, robotic and most often, lack lots of "human" relationship. So I set out...
Thank you ALL so very much!
I personally visited 3 local fish stores and they all acted like I'm a retard for asking how to maintain the filter. Thanks again for your time to help me out!
Hi, everyone-
This is my new hobby so I have very limited basic knowledge. All your suggestions and recommendations are truly welcome!
I have a 10-gallon tank with one half moon betta fish in it. I spent MONTHS trying to do a fish-less cycle and after MONTHS of "struggling" with it, the day...
Hi- So I've just re-tested the tank water, where he's in right now and you were right, the Nitrate was at/ around 5 ppm. But, Ammonia and Nitrite did register at 0 for me.
But, this was because I had a large water change done last night. I forgot to test the tank prior to doing the water change.
My betta has swim bladder disorder and I'm trying to figure out if it's an internal infection, or if it's because of over-feeding, or both. Please help!
I discovered him with the swim bladder visible yesterday's night - I was working all day so didn't check on him. In the early morning, I fed...
Hi, Hholly - I'm attempting to cycle the 10- gallon tank for almost 4 months now. I'm so sad, and more so, I have no clue what's going on. I hope you read all of my answers to the questions others had tried to ask... I can't imagine having to re-start everything...this is so painful...
Ammonia is going up and Nitrite is till up
I think I'm losing this fishless cycle battle. Whenever my ammonia did drop down to zero, it took 5 days to do that, and this has happened twice. I thought my nightmare of 3+ months wasn't going to get any worse, but I was wrong. Nitrite reading was...
Hi, Linnwood-
Thank you for your time to help - it's much appreciated as I need ALL the help I can at this point...Every time I look at my poor betta, I feel horrible for the fact that I have no idea what's going to help him with his new home.... I'm attempting to answer your questions below...
Hi, jlk - I just did a test earlier, prior to getting to the computer to receive your reply so here are the results:
ammonia = 0 ppm (not sure how that happened?)
Nitrite = probably between 4- 3 ppm (it is still high)
pH = 7.6 (I did not test for the "high range pH", should I do this too and...
Hi, Fresh2o- I just did another test and here are my results:
Ammonia = 0 ppm (don't ask me how that happened.....)
Nitrite = I'm going to say it is between 4 - 3 ppm ; it's a bit difficult to tell but it's definitely high
pH = 7.6
I actually put in 8 drops of ammonia prior to having the...
Hi, jlk - My betta is staying in a 3 gallon tank with no filter and it's not a cycle tank. I only have the water heater on for him and waiting for the 10-gallon tank to cycled. I have no idea that I need to do regular water change on the tank that's I'm trying to cycle. Can you let me know...
Argh...I have not tested for ph level. I've been concentrating on testing ammonia and nitrite. I'll have to do that tomorrow and report back. Thank you!
Hi, Linwood -
I am fearing the worse, that 3+ months is really way too long so now I know for sure I did something incorrectly. Please keep in mind that I am totally new to keeping fish/ aquarium. I started out with wanting to have a "friend" at work - so I thought betta fish would be...
