    Vacation with a Cichlid

In a couple of weeks I am going on Vacation for about 2 weeks for the holidays. I recently acquired a Tiger Oscar, and am wondering what everyone suggests for feeding him during my vacation. I am nervous for an automatic feeder because I have found none that someone has not had a terrible...

    Knee jerk reaction to Ich

Malachite green is also as carcinogen in rats causing lung cancer with ingestion of large amounts of the chemical. Much higher amounts than you will be exposed to. There are no linked cases in humans in the research article i read on it.

    Knee jerk reaction to Ich

A lot of things fall into that category of type 2 carcinogen. When i was in college, i worked in a lab that used formalin (the carcinogen in the mix) and yes it can cause cancer in high doses for prolonged time periods. At the levels you would get in quick cure, it would take a very very long...

    Hi All, I'm a beginner

A word of warming, gourami are beautiful, but the can be aggressive and territorial. Ten gal is on the small side for one Gourami, and you have two plus your live bearers. So, be aware that you are going to have some fin nipping, and possibly some problems associated with that.

    Hi All, I'm a beginner

How long was it set up before you added the fish? Is it cycled? What is your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels? Look around for a getting started tank article to help you learn about tank cycling, or private message me, and i will send you the information i share about tank set up and the...

    Knee jerk reaction to Ich

It really is pretty good stuff. I successfully used quick cure recently to nab a ick dusted fish before the whole tank got it. Sadly there were brand new fry in the tank, but i didn't lose any after a treatment with quick cure. So, it now has a place in my weaponry against tank disease.

I agree, with zero nitrates, either the test was bad, our the tank has not cycled ever. Ammonia build up is most likely the culprit as to the new lethargic behavior of the fish. Add prime to detoxify the ammonia, and don't add any more fish for now. You are now doing a fish in cycle...
