fish are pearl danios and they look healthy active and eating number of fish are 12 in a 55 tank .

my water is well water that goes through a softener so I would assume the water would be on the softer side . ( just assuming ) the guy at Petco is an enthusiast he said he has had tanks for 16 years and currently has 5 in his home of which 3 are marine even steered me away from the zebra danio...

so after complaining to Hagen they have agreed to send out 2 new impellers to see if that remedies the situation and if not they have agreed to swap out 2 motor / impeller combos . my thoughts are this seems like good customer service .. keeping fingers crossed

thank you again it is all sinking in so far fish seem happy . eating and swimming all around like crazy kids except one , that one is hiding but there is only 6 of them in such a big tank .

again thanks for all the good advise . I put 6 golden danios in today . I think that is what the lfs called them kinda bla looking fish but what the hell just starting cycle also got some well established filter pads to kick off the filters . so tank has been running for one week prior to fish...

guys I appreciate all the advice , I really do . I will be getting some cycled bio media soon to kick off the tank then some danios to keep it all going . for a 55 how many danios should I use for a fish in cycle .. thanks again all of you

To op , In my opinion there is too much color for my taste . I personally like a big center piece IE drift wood , rock , ceramic whatever . then put my big fake plants to the ends and smaller fake plants for fillers and towards the front of the tank for depth . big in back smaller in middle and...

I have tried lubing with silicone grease but it seems that the heat of the motor is liquefying the grease going to try Vaseline next . have complaint into hagen will see if they stand behind these noisy S.O.Bs

no fish in yet and wasn't planning on doing a fishless cycle either . just letting tank get settled temp , ph , etc might put in some this weekend . ph is still 7.4 temp is 78 ammonia is 0.25 nothing on nitrates or nitrites

water is now clouding up not bad but cloudy none the less has been 5 days now .
