I will suggest to use Hanna's Phosphate checker or Salifert test kits for PO4, you cannot exactly know your PO4 levels with API test kit, the colors are so confusing, in the long term if you are willing to keep corals get Hanna's PO4 Checker.

Which test kit are you using for PO4? Are you running GAC? High nitrates and po4 are the usual reasons for algae and higher inorganic nutrient levels.

I'd feed them every other day but a lot of people feed daily perhaps more than once in a day, if you are skimming good, chaning water on time then you can do the same all you have to care is your water quality.
