Im in the UK and live very close to the Uk Aqua medic distributers and technical help guys.
I can categorically say that Aqua Medic make some of the best aquarium equipment available. So much so that nearly my entire setup is aqua medic.
Saying that, I would avoid the Titan range of coolers...
I was surprised how efficient clean up crews were. I had a chalk goby go missing. I hadnt seen him for 24 hours and he was a very active chap normally, so I lifted the small peice of LR that he lived under and all that was left of him was a skeleton imprinted to the rook. Stripped bare 8O...
Cheers for that.
I saw the size of the molt and thought "Holy Crap" these are supposed to be like flea's ! I thought I may have the pod equivelent of Godzilla in there somewhere :D
Ok...easy questions for most of you guys!
I alwasy worry that I dont have a suitable pod population as I dont see them, and to be honest I have yet to do a night watch of my tank to confirm either way. I have added a couple of large pod cultures to my tank so presume I have.
My questions...
:D :D
Ive Started to name some of my hermits following this thread ! Last night I watched "Shellcold Steve Crabclaw" throw ""Rick Claw" of the very top of my 3 tier reef rack!! I even heard the impact as he hit some rock below. Its getting a bit violent in there !!! Anyone think a plastic...
Some crabs are obviosly more intelligent than others. The one on the polyp rock has found himself an untapped resource that will feed him for weeks whilst the rest of the crowd are busy beating each other up in "Who can pull who from their shell" contests!
Lovely empty shell sitting on the...
I have quite a few hermits in my tank and there is 1 in particular that has set up home on top of a large (2kg) star polyp cover rock.
He sometimes doesnt move for days. I know he is not eating the polyps because they are so dense and lush that you sometimes cannot even see his shell through...
Its just a plain old in tank glass overflow filled with bioballs with a trickle plate on top. 2 holes in the bottom. 1 to drain to the sump the other for the return pipe to come up through (which makes filter socks etc really awkward)
Cheers for the links guys. I can always count on this forum for some quality docs!
I have about 70kg of LR in my tank and still adding as I go. There is some small frags or LR in my sump but nothing significant.
If I toss the bio balls, wouldnt my weir become way too noisy?
Just a Noobs suggestion. You mention putting the Clams BACK in the lagoon once your done. Does this mean you have access to this lagoon?
You could just use water straight from this lagoon everyday and that should really help with the issues of high nutrient water that would result from the...
I hear that Bio balls are Nitrate generators all the time and to be honest I get a little confused.
Surley to creat the nitrate they have to feed on Nitrite?? Am I missing something here? I have a weir filled with bio balls and use that as a wet/dry trickle tower. I also have a Nitrate...
Over here in the UK a lot of people recommend using fresh cultured Live Phyto (Nannochloropsis Occulata is the most common) as a tank supplement. The general rule is 1ml per 2 gallons. This is fresh phyto not concentrate and has a shelf life of just 4 weeks. Theis phyto will feed the whole...
My Foxface (Foxy -yes I know!) is a big scardy cat that needs a reassuring rub of the glass when he is scared!!! No kidding. Sometimes a walk passed and see him wedged against the glass all mottled with his spines up, I walk over and rub the glass next to him slowley and he colours up, drops...
I dont know how much of this is tru but the Aqua medic Wave solution slowly ramps power to the PH not just on/off instantly and is supposed to be much better for the ph. I hope this is the case as it costs $400 compared to the Maxijet equivenlent of $100. But Aqua medic stuff is never cheap!
