So random question....I'm looking into buying a gold nugget pleco and wanted any input on their care. I've heard from a few people they are hard to keep. Any suggestions or experience?
That is a beautiful specimen!! I just talked to a guy that's got a female sunshine and I think I've got a male. So may start breeding some sunshine plecos soon
My experience is that the common pleco can grow up to 18+ inches. They can live for quite a long time, I've heard over 10 years. Never had one that long before so idk. They are primarily algae grazers but supplement with aquatic wood is also good. That's my two cents
I've got a 40 gallon sump with a fountain pump that pumps over 1200 gallons an hour. So far the overflows have worked well. I did add a UV sterilizer to keep any algal blooms away and the system is working well.
