Advice for tail / fin rot?

Thank you Delapool! Yes I only noticed it in two days, but I might have missed the early warning signs. Since then, no improvement, and maybe a slight worsening. We're getting KanaPlex and Furan (fungal and antibiotic treatment) tomorrow. We were thinking of treating the main tank since it seems...

Advice for tail / fin rot?

I'm not sure if it's fin rot or something else. New to treating disease. 15 gal tall tank, cycled, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 0, temp 73deg, pH 6.6. HOB filter (with active bacterial mat), plus sponge filter on airstone (no visible bacterial mat). There are 12 serpae tetras (ie red minor...

    Sick betta - please help

Thanks so much for your tips, nkoyko! We'll try the betta conditioner tomorrow and figure out how to cycle the tank properly once he recovers (or if he doesn't :( ). If anyone else has suggestions for us, we'd really appreciate that!

    Sick betta - please help

Update with pic Here's a pic of him resting on the heater. He won't even move when a snail goes right by his head - he seems to be using the snail as a pillow! Poor guy.

    Sick betta - please help

Hi, we have a new betta and he's sluggish, and it could be a bunch of factors, so please help us figure out what to do! We got him 11 days ago and put him in a 2.5 gal tank with top filter, betta heater, gravel, a couple fake plants, a couple real plants, a decoration, and a couple of snails...

    Cool snail trails

I just put a couple snails in a scummy tank. Check out the cool trails they make in the scum! It looks to me like while the snail travels in a straight line, it munches side to side like a corncob. Great little workers!

    Danio with nipped fins

Not yet, about to retest water then change. Should I add aquarium salt to the new water along with prime?

    Danio with nipped fins

Thanks for water quality advice - will do so. She's lying on the bottom of her net enclosure and her dorsal fin seems a bit blackened. Should we separate her to keep the other fish safe? Some kind of aquarium salt bath?

    Danio with nipped fins

Any suggestions for what to do if it is fin rot? She's still swimming up at the surface with her sad stump of a tail. Doesn't seem worse than this morning, at least.

Thanks all. Water is ph 6.2, amm 0.2, nitrite 0, nitrate ~3. We change 15% once/week.

    Danio with nipped fins

Our 15 gal high tank has been cycled for a couple of weeks. We have 4 long-finned golden zebra danios (2 male, 2 female). We plan to add more, maybe another danio and some tetras. We left for a four-night trip (a pet sitter fed the fish), and when we returned, we found that the others had...

    Aerate 2.5 gal tank?

Hi everyone, I heard this was a great forum. I have a small 2.5 gal quarantine tank with a filter on top. For fish like danios, is it OK to not have an airstone? Thanks!
