So I put a live plant into the tank and it's completely sorted the issue. The ammonia is still 0.25 so I did a API liquid test on the tap water and it says exactly the same as the tank water. Both 0.25 is there anything I can do with this I currently use Tetra AquaSafe. Sent from my iPhone...

I use tetra aquasafe I always have, filter doesn't look clogged there is green gunk around the carbon cartridge though. I was always told never to touch the filter I've obviously being naive there. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

The filter is a Api one that came with the tank which has a carbon cartridge in it which hasn't been changed in a solid year now as I don't want to lose the bacteria. I'm gravel vac'd out its only a small 27L tank so doesn't take too long Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

I was going from pebbles to gravel but it seemed to cycle out pretty quickly I presume because of the bacteria in the water and filter. It was fine for a week and then boom 0.25 and it just won't go away pH is normal 7.6. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

Hi guys having a bit of trouble with an ammonia spike in my tank. It's a 30l tank that's been established over a year now currently stocked with 2 cardinals and 4 platys. I changed the gravel 100% around 2 weeks ago which saw a spike in ammonia and nitrite so I was doing my water changes etc...
