I would use whatever is closest in hardness and alkalinity to your current levels in your fish tank. That way you don't have to add any chemicals to adjust either water source.
If you have a big tank, something like a Python works great for water changes. Otherwise, you can get a gravel vacuum...
Day 2 of the canister upgrade. Water parameters are still perfect, and running the double filtration right now has not upset the two angels. Everything is looking great. My plan is to leave the HOB for at least a month, but if it doesn't bother any of the fish, I may just leave it, put another...
In my experience, water clarifiers only clear the water in instances that it would have cleared up on its own. If there is a problem with your water, the water clarifier will not fix it. That being said, I have used Seachem Clarity and it was ok.
Thanks everyone for the great advice. I did go to my local fish store today with the input that I had. I ended up going with the Marineland C220. I was advised to go ahead and leave the old hang on the back filter up for about a month as well, who knows, it may become a permanent part of the...

2. I...
I think he is saying, it's not harming anything being in there, just keep it there. No reason to rush taking it out. It's got some great bacteria on it.
I would think there is still plenty of good bacteria in there, especially since you are using old media. A side note, are you using the API Master Test Kit? ANYTIME I test for ammonia, it ALWAYS reads 0.25, I have never seen anything less. Searching online leads me to believe this is an...
Howdy, I live in Columbia.
Best place I have seen around here is the Columbia Pet Center as you mention. They are pretty good. I believe they take requests too if you are interested in getting something that they do not have.

Hello all -
Been in the hobby for a little over a year. Started with a 10gallon tank with some Dalmatian Mollies. Recently added a 36 gallon bow front to my collection. Cycled it and just added two Angels last night.
I want to try to learn something new everyday, which is why I joined this...
