    Good Stand Alone Protein Skimmer

okay, so I won't use it in my sump when I get one. I guess I'll just have to get a second larger tank (when space permits) along with nice sump and in sump skimmer. :D I can use my current 50gal as a quarantine tank :D

    Good Stand Alone Protein Skimmer

Thanks for all the replies guys, I would love to get a sump, but have no room right now. I would have just enough for a stand alone protein skimmer under the tank, but they aren't too common. In the end I think I'll go with the HOB Remora, as it only needs 2 3/4" behind the tank. It isn't...

    Good Stand Alone Protein Skimmer

Hello all, been trying to figure saltwater piece by piece. Because of my fish (brackish water Green Spotted Puffer and Mollies), I have brought my tank from slightly brackish to full marine now over a year or so. I'm trying to find a good stand alone protein skimmer that I can use with my set...

Any Ideas To Keep Hornwort On Top Of Aquarium?

Hi All, I have hornwort in my tank and half of it likes to float, but the other half likes to fall down.....I want it all to float or stay at the top, but it never seems to do that. Any suggestions on how to get it to stay at the top so that my fry can use it as cover? It also grows a lot...

Is Fishing line safe for a Freshwater Tank?

How long does it usually take the cotton thread to biodegrade and do you have to make sure you buy thread that hasn't been dyed?

Is Fishing line safe for a Freshwater Tank?

Hey everyone, I'm looking to use some fishing line to place plants and ornaments better in my tank and was just wondering if it would be safe to keep in a tank indefinitely? Thanks in advance.

Can anyone identify this algea? (pics included)

I had to rebuild both tanks due to an green water issue. The algea in question has been growing in only the one tank for about 3 months now, and is slowly taking over all the decorations, and now even the hornwort. My Mollies try to pick at it, and it doesn't seem to come off of the...

Can anyone identify this algea? (pics included)

Hello everyone, I have two identical fresh water tanks with a self sustaining supply of mollies in them. In one tank a type of algea is starting to grow and I can't seem figure out which kind it is. Can anyone identify which kind it is so I can get started figuring out how to get rid of it...

    molly fry question

The colouring of the fry sound exactly the same as mine. I have a few pure black fry and some a golden brown colour. The mother was a black molly and the father was either an orange sailfin or a silver sailfin. It should be interesting to see how they turn out.

    Alternative to Java moss?

What about hornwort? From what everyone says it grows really well. I just added some to two of my tanks and it's grown about 3 inches in a little over a week. In the other tank I have some salt and it doesn't seem to like it very much and is dying. It's a floating plant and the fry in my...

    Yay for new mollies!

Congrats, Since you put them in their own tank you have a good chance of having them survice. Just make sure to pay careful attention to the levels in the tank (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate). If the tank isn't cycled you can easily have them all die on you. Also if you can feed them Baby Brine...

    Babies!

Congrats! Depending how much cover and what else is in your tank they might/might not survive. The move hiding places the better.

Any way to makeshift device to save the fry in a qt.

I have had molly fry quite a few times and I find they will stay wherever the cover is. I now have cover at the surface and a fancy plant mat at the bottom. They love hiding in the mat on the bottom. I've never had so many survive as I do now because of the matt. Anybody in the London...
