I was wondering if anyone does it this way....i feed our cichlids once a day and only feed them six days a week. Do mix it up with flakes and pellats...thinking of see how they do if i added some live shrimp??? Thoughrs

All good points never would have thought to test tap. Sure thats not issue, haven't been on top of tank like i was during winter months. Pullin two jobs now, kids, wife, summer activities the fish got put on back burner.

I have a 35 gal tank of cichlids (9) of them. Been awhile since i tested water, about 4 months.
Unacceptable yes just been really busy finally had time.
ammonia was in between 0.00-.25
high ph is 8.0
Nitrites is 0.00
Nitrate is 40.00-80.00 (say closer to 40 range) normally it has been...
Forgot to add is cichlid tank three assorted African in there maybe 3/4 in lomg. Seem to be still healthy

Hello have a small i believe 8-10 gal tank. Not only until today my five year found food and decided she would feed them. Yay...i did 50% water change just now i should be able to do another 50% tomorrow right? Or should i wait couple days like friday? Thx

That's ok if you have a screen they shouldnt swim thru. She'll suck them back in if she feels threaten in anyway. I've been told cichlids take good care of young.
Mine she carried twice now but hasnt completed full cycle --- might have ate them or other fish might have.

Nm incubator thata if you strip and have one. Shouldnt hurt her just have hands wet before holding her she'll be calm. Mine is....couple videos on you tube

If you don't want to strip, alt is to divide tank with screen or tumbler incubator. Unless you have an extra tank handy.
