    Goldfish turning Yellow???

I used to have a "black moor" that turned completey orange over the course of two years. Over time, I've noticed different colors of scales showing up on pretty much every goldfish I've ever owned.

    Treats For Fish?

Don't give him meat or anything with fat in it. Fish don't metabloize like mammals, and can't handle fat very well. In addition to what Blazeherd recommended, you can give him frozen beefheart (it has very little fat), frozen or freeze-dried krill, frozen bloodworms, salad shrimp (one of my...

    Nitrate Spike

How often do you test for nitrates? A couple dead fish in a tank will definitely contribute to nitrates. Do you vacuum the gravel when you do your PWCs?

    Goldfish with ich?

I've never known goldfish to be sensative to salt. You can increase the tank's temperature some, but I wouldn't go too high. Personally, I've never had to deal with ich in a goldfish tank, but I did use salt for something once with goldies with no adverse effects.

    Emergency! Very sick Oscar

True, you don't really need Melafix; the wound will eventually heal on it's own, but it really does help speed things up. And to me that looks like finrot, not just an injury caused by a tankmate or just clumsiness.

    Dropsy curable?

I've had two goldfish come down with dropsy. One died and the other recovered and I treated the exact same way for both of them. The one that died lasted about three days, I think. I guess consider yourself lucky. :)

    How many Watts per gallon?

I believe the rule of thumb is 3-5 watts per gallon.

Naughty pleco, should I be concerned?

I read somewhere that plecos see discus as big swimming dinner plates. I used to have a pleco that would do that to my goldfish. I just took him back to the store and got a snail for the tank instead.

    Oscars and Algae Eaters

I kept a largish common pleco in with my oscars for a long time, and they didn't bother him at all. I think what you can get will also depend on the personality of your oscar. Mine are quite laid back (but not quite so laid back that they would leave my apple snail alone). Of course the only...

    Nitrate Levels HELP.....Question about feeding

What is your nitrate level? Maybe do larger or more frequent water changes. Have you tested your tap water for ammonia and nitrates? Sometimes you get a reading for those things right out of the faucet. Thank God I've never had to deal with that. *knocks on wood* What kind of filter is...

    Emergency! Very sick Oscar

In addition to what Essayons89 said to do, adding some Melafix to the tank will help speed up healing and regenerate the fins. However, having tons of medication in the tank can be stressful to the fish, so you may want to wait until after you've treated with the other medications.
