    is my fish in stress?

Sounds like swim bladder disease. It's quite common in goldfish and sadly once your goldfish has it, it has it for life. BUT you can manage it. Do not feed him for a few days, then give him 1-2 unshelled peas a couple times a day to clear his digestive track. Overfeeding and gulping at the...

    Goldfish

This is a classic case of SBD (swim bladder disease) which sadly cannot be cured but it CAN be managed. This can be caused by overfeeding/gulping at the surface. It's best to let him fast for a few days, then put him on a diet of peas (minus the "shell" of the pea) to help clear his digestive...

Black Moor eye injury. Advice wanted.

Good news, his eye is looking better, but he started showing signs of swim bladder disease so he's been moved to the quarentine tank with epson salt and a light dose of meds. It's been about 13 hours and it seems his bouancy has returned to normal. Gonna keep him in quarentine for a few days anyway.

    Mermaid's Hair Algae (on purpose?!)

After long consideration on whether or not to buy java moss and get it to grow on the lava rocks in my goldfish tank, I've decided, no. I've had it in my tank before and it quickly turned into a salad. So I want to try what most hobbyists would consider absurd and stick Mermaid's Hair...

Black Moor eye injury. Advice wanted.

I have a black moor with a what appears to be a sore on his eye. I noticed it yesterday and it just looked like he lost a scale and left a white spot. I looked again today and it looks worse and slightly swollen. I took him out of the goldfish tank and in with my cory tank (side note: there is...

    Aquarium stand dilema!

This is what I'm dealing with. All four corners of the tank sit on the stand but there's a whole lot of nothing on the sides. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Aquarium stand dilema!

I have a 29 gallon tank I'd like to set up on an extra stand (scroll style) I have instead of shelling out $60 for a new one, except the stand is meant for a 30 gallon tank. I have no doubt it can support the weight of the 29 but there's an extra 3" on each side and I don't know if that will...

    Can someone identify this plant?

That must be it. Can't wait until it carpets. On another note, Petco needs to go back to biology class. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Can someone identify this plant?

I got these plants at petco and the packaging said it was "rotala wallichii" or needle leaf rotala and that seems wrong for the look of this plant. I've had it in my tank for a week now and it's only 2-3 inches tall. The leaves are tiny, but not needle-like, hence my suspition. Any ideas...

    Fluorescent vs. LED

I'm going to be setting up a planted tank with red ludwigia, amazon sword, and java fern just to name a few. My question is, will all these plants do better under fluorescent bulbs or could I use LEDs? Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Show off your favorite fish

This guy is probably my favorite right now. He's developed some black coloration in his fins and on his head that seem to come and go. But he's truly a joy to watch. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Stocking 30 gallon tank

I have 2 dwarf gourami (both male I believe) in a 38 gallon tank. They chased each other for a little while when first introduced, but they pretty much leave each other alone now. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Stocking 30 gallon tank

I know tiger barbs are fin nippers, but I also know that in a proper size school and tank they won't nip other fish. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice
