    Where are all my pleco's!?

I had the same problem when I first got my plecos. After about six months they started coming out though. It just took them a long time to feel secure. Ive since added a lot of broken flower pots / tubes at one end of the tank to give them plenty of caves / hiding spots. Now its not...

    Lighting - 6ft x 2ft x 2ft assistance needed.

Thanks for the replies. I think I may have been over complicating it with the extra (and in my case unneeded) information about plants light requirements. I will go with a simple set up of 2 No. 5ft tubes using something like this Juwel T5 Hi-Lite Day Tubes Thanks again. :)

    Lighting - 6ft x 2ft x 2ft assistance needed.

I currently have 2 No. 4ft tubes - both of which appear to be 3/4 inch thick. I guess what Im asking, as well, is if there is a particular type of light which shows off the fishes colours better than others. Ive read about MH lights, T5, T6 etc and tbh.. its lost be a bit.

    Lighting - 6ft x 2ft x 2ft assistance needed.

Long time reader, few time poster here. I require some help with lighting up my 6ft x 2ft x 2ft tank. It currently has a couple of flourescent tubes in it (no idea on make as they came with the tank). The hood is not in good condition and Im going to be building up a new hood in the next few...

    Beginner questions about tank hygene

Just to back up whats already been said on the "fur" on the bogwood. Yep I got that on mine too. Some of the bits didnt get it, but some did. Didnt hurt the fish, in fact I spotted some of the lemon tetras taking a nibble at it. I got a large piece of bogwood (just under 2ft tall & long)...

    Moving House - 6ft x 2ft x 2ft tank.

Im moving house in about 6 - 8 weeks time and have a large tank to move. I would be interested in other peoples experiences of moving a large tank + fish, filters etc. I have a 6ft x 2ft x 2ft tank with two external canister filters and heaters etc. The tank is stocked with small tropical...

How big tank you can put safely in the living room?

Agreed on the safety aspect. Ive recently bought a 4 bed house and one of the things I specified to the estate agent was that any house they want to sell me MUST have a concrete floor to take the weight of my 150 gal tank. What surprised me was that the estate agent agreed that the location of...

    Infection in the sand?

Yep, I definately trust them. They have won a few awards and everything Ive seen in there speaks "We care & know about what we do". Im using silver sand, as sold by aquatic stores. Ive rolled some between my fingers and it feels pretty smooth to be honest. Its tiny grains. Today Ive lowed...

    Infection in the sand?

I've cut n paste the questions from the "Read me before posting" thread to hopefully give enough information for assistance. 1~What type of fish is afflicted? In addition, please describe what is wrong with the fish to the best of your ability (i.e. cotton like growth, bloated, etc.). Panda...

Pacus, Arowanas, and Other Tank Busters. A Discussion

Add in Red Tailed Catfish to this list too. It saddens me to see how many are up for sale because they have "out grown the tank". I would LOVE a red tailed cat , as they are by far my most favourite fish. I will never buy one though until I have a tank that is big enough for one to thrive...

    Bam & Boo"a shrimp storie"

The one thing I would say about these (mine is a cameroon fan shrimp, but looks identical) is that they are rarely seen. When they are, yes they look awesome. BUT.. Mine has been hiding behind the filter pipes for the best part of 3 months now and only comes out at night. Ive got a 6ft x 2ft...

    Carbon chemical filtration?

Completely agree jcarlilesiu. Ive been using AC to remove the tannin released from bogwood into the water and it works very very well. Granted I use about £12.00 worth every 6 weeks, but to me thats worth it for the amazingly clear water. Ive not had, nor heard, of any issues with using it.

New, and HUUUUGE, tank to set up...

I have a 6ft x 2ft x 2ft tank set up as tropical. When I first got the tank I had a pretty good idea on what type of fish and what look I wanted. From that point on it was all about doing some more research and planning. Main point in all of this: Work out what you want before hand. Im not...

DarylF2, here is a piccy of what Ive got. Had to google an image and the image is from http://www.shrimpcrabsandcrayfish.co.uk He is currently sat behind a filter pipe and has been for 2 days now. I was told he was probably going to molt soon and Im guessing thats whats about to happen...
