When changing water how do you get your water up to the same temp as the main tank is it just a matter of putting a heater in the water butt? Any advice on how people go about their water changes would be interesting and how often are you doing it?

Hi I am going away on holiday for a few days and have a temperamental skimmer and I do not want to put my neighbour who will be feeding for me through any unnecessary hassle, will it be okay to turn the skimmer off for a few days say from 10.00am Wed until 7.00pm Friday?

I hear that chromis's fight between each other until a dominant one survives, so is it okay just to add a single chromis?

Its actually a 50 gallon tank based on the conversion you people on the other side of the pond use we convert with 4.55l to a gallon mine is 190 litres.

I added my first two fish two black and white Ocellaris clownfish to my tank on the weekend and wonder what advice anyone could give me on how long I leave it before adding more fish, I am thinking Six Line Wrasse and maybe a goby next and then two further fish before adding a Flame Angel last...

I still wonder if I am missing something or whether I would have expected something to happen by now, I am not seeing any spikes in ammonia levels even after adding the live rock, should I add some food to the tank to promote higher ammonia levels? Still not sure on the fish thing...:banghead:

No change in tank ammonia levels seem to be constant at around 2ppm don't know if I should be doing anything or just sitting tight, any thoughts

Thanks guys I have checked levels today and ammonia has risen since adding the live rock which I understand is a good thing, will continue to monitor to see how long it takes to come down to acceptable level before making any further decisions.
