Hi guys, I'm working on fixing up my old tank. Currently it's down to 4 neon tetras (was originally 8), and once it's all cleaned up I'm going to add another 3-5. It's a 20 gallon long tank with sand, and an Aqueon 30 (200gph) filter.
What are some other fish ideas?
I'm considering something...
I have a 20 gallon long tank that currently only has 4 neon tetras (the rest died a while ago).
I used to have a school of corys, more neon tetras, and a german blue ram, but the corys dropped like flies (bad stock) and the GBR died of what I could only guess was hexemita.
I'm thinking of...
Several months ago I posted a problem about my neon tetras. Two of them had a pinkish color, and the blue and red was faded, almost like when they go for a while in the dark and then you turn on the light. One of them died, and I put the other in a hang on quarintine box. He seemed fine other...
Thanks for the suggestions, this thread is actually from 2010 though. I ended up with a German Blue Ram, which I highly recommend. They are very quirky and colorful little fish.
Anyone? i'd like to get a new fish tonight, and since I haven't seen any new or bad symptoms other than the color change, I will take the chance unless anyone has a reason not too.
After you cycle, I would start with the guppies, then platys, then either school of tetras, then the other school, and lastly the DG. Introduce them slowly so you don't get a mini cycle.
I have a school of 5 neon tetras in my 20 long tank. I about a week ago that one of them has a tanish/pinkish face, and the color faded off the front half of it. It's almost what they look like after the light is turned off all night, but the lights have been on for several hours. There are no...
I have a 10 gallon tank with 2 14 watt CFL's, I think the color temp is 5000k, but not positive. I'm not quite sure what this would be considered, lighting wise. I have some type of Liquid fertilizer that I don't currently use, and sand substrate, but nothing else.
I want to go pick up some...
The german blue rams can be pretty delicate, just a warning.
For final stock I would say something like:
3 male or female platy
2 guppies
6 neon tetras
6 black neons
1 GBR
Someone can chime in on that to make sure it sounds ok.
Is this your first tank? Only asking because some fish are more delicate than others.
I mentioned dwarf gouramis above, and along the same lines there are honey gouramis and pearl gouramis. It would be best to pick one of these, and just keep one male. I've heard mixed reports on their...
Like mollies and platys, swords have a pretty big bioload. I personally prefer to avoid them because they look almost exactly like platys, but they are larger and males obviously have a swordtail. I would replace the platys with the swords if you really prefer them, 3-4 female or 3 male swords...
I used the melafix about three weeks ago before I got the corys to treat a neon tetra with a nipped tail.
I haven't used anything else since then. I've been feeding Omega One flakes.
