I just thought I'd update this thread... After some research I found out that this strain is commonly called 'nigeria yellow'. Still haven't been able to find out much else. I'm assuming they will grow to the same size as a regular krib. I'll post more pics later but they are really coloring up...
The female also has a different shaped mouth. It's not as pointed as the others I've seen. It's more rounded and the mouth is almost got the same characteristics as a koi. It's downward pointing and it's constantly picking up and sifting through sand...
The male has more of a forward facing...
Thanks! That's good to hear that they are a male and female. If they are of a different variety will it reduce the chances of them pairing up and maybe breeding one day?
Are these two Kribs from the same strain? The 1st two pics are of the male (I think?) that I just brought home yesterday. The the other two pics are of the female (I think?). The guy at the lfs said they were the same strain but the colours are different. The new one with longer fins (the male I...
Nothing new in weeks. The change in behavior was sudden. Just after the wc. The only think I can think of would be like an ammonia burn... I have an air stone running now to help?
I'm just stuck on it only affecting 3 of the fish. All the other fish are great. I fed today and the sick ones went...
Here is a pic of one. Can't see much but the corner of it's mouth is red.
I'm using tap water with conditioner. It's what I've been using for the last 3 years without incident.
I have a 55g planted tank. Last night I did a 15g water change and since then 3 of my fish are not looking well. All three are "panting" or breathing heavy in the middle of the water column. Around their mouths and in their nose area is getting red. What I would say looks like a burn. I just did...
My budget it about $200-$250. I would need either two short fixtures or one long one. (4ft tank) if I get two I can split the purchase and possibly spend more over a longer period of time.
Yes, one tube per fixture. Two tubes total. I'm definitely curious about DIY set ups if they are cost effective and simple. I'm no electrician.
Compared to what I have now... What would the next step up in lighting be? The next best thing?
I've seen florescent tubes that are much narrower and...
It's a 55g. It has two separate fixtures. On closer inspection the tubes i currently have are "power-glo" 15w t8.
Does the t8 mean it's a full spectrum light?
Can anyone tell me what the cheapest lighting system for growing your basic anubias, java ferns and similar low light plants would be? I have the standard 20w fixtures that came stock with the tank and I've heard mixed opinions on whether or not they will suffice for growing plants. I'd like to...
