Of what I read and have been told. Once nitrites appear ammonia level should be cut in half. Wait for the ammonia drop to near 0 and the bring it back to around 2 ppm. As I have been told bringing it up to high will burn out the cycle.
Thanks for the replies everyone.
I check my water parameters everday. Twice a day on the weekends. And my ammonia level has been at or just above 0.25 ppm since about Tuesday.
I check to make sure my fish are doing fine. I added 5 more Danio's the day after I added the 4. I know not the...
I'm glad you answered that Jim. I wanted to know myself. I have been to Petco and Petsmart. Petsmart's fish tanks near me look healthier then my local Petco but with some issues. Petco had atleast a dead fish in every tank I looked at. While Pestsmart only had 1 dead fish in all the tanks they...
I have wondered the samething. I have been trying to get my tank's temp to 75 degrees. I can get it to 75.9 degrees.
I have Danio's in there now and would like to open the lid. I am afraid what might happen. I may look around this weekend for some screening. Or make something up to fit when...
When your ammonia was processed in a twelve hour period, were you adding ammonia to bring it back to 4 ppm?
If this is the case. Once your Nitrite was processing the ammonia. Ammonia should have been brought back to only 2 ppm, i.e. you cut the ammonia by half once your nitrites are processing...
Thanks everyone for the replies.
I cannot for the life of me figure out why my fishless cycle never developed. I used pure clear ammonia as my source. And evertime I tested my water using the API Master Test kit ammonia never dropped or no signs of nitrites.
I am already used to testing...
Hello everyone. I tried unsuccessfully of attempting a fishless cycle (course of 3 months).
I switched to adding fish. I have danios in my tank. I would like to add some Tetras. What would you recommend as a good hardy Tetra in addition to a Danios?
Thanks
I feel your pain. Started my fishless cycle March 13. About the beginning of April I did not see any nitrites. So I did a large water change and restarted my cycle.
As of now I might be seeing a hint of nitrites. Maybe .125 - .25. I know it is not the light blue color. What I am not seeing is...
Sorry to add on to this thread (hijack) but I am having some Nitrate issues that might be hindering my Fishless Cycle.
For close to month now I have been performing a fishless cycle with clear ammonia. When I check my readings they are always constant. Ammonia 4 ppm, Nitrite 0 ppm
Then on...
I am performing a fishless cycle. For the better part of a month I have been testing my water and my levels not changed. Ammonia 4 ppm, Nitrite 0 - .12 ppm. I figured out I was doing the Nitrate test wrong. One not shaking bottle number 2 of the API Freshwater Master test kit. And also...
Hello everyone,
As some of you have read I am performing a fishless cycle. I have been testing my water ever since I added I was suggested by my lfs to try some Seachem Stability which I added Saturday. Since Monday I have been getting some weird readings when I test my water.
I would test my...
Cool! Thanks BigJim and Steve for the replies.
I will monitor my water parameters. I will see what I can do about getting some filter material. I don't know of any my friends of having a tank. And if I knew the lfs owner better I would have asked him for some material.
Thanks again. All...
Thanks for the replies.
So you don't think by adding the initial doseage of Seachem Stability hurt my fishless cycle? I added it Saturday but have not added any since.
