It's been a while since I last posted. Every thing in the tank is running smoothly, only issue is the rise of red algae which I'm combating with the tricks I was told. Corals are growing, fish is happy, and tank looks pretty. I'll try to get a photo of it up here soon.
I noticed these guys on my live rock. I noticed that they were starfish but I could not tell if they at the ones that are coral. I'm hoping they are just algae eaters.
Thanks for all the comments on the corals guys it means a lot to hear it.
And about the feeding, the cardinal was eating what I gave them. I wonder if it was an issue that he was to slow to get enough food before the Gramma. Anyways the positive comments on my tank made up for the loss of a...
So I lost my cardinal. Don't know what happened to him. He was always shy but when I came home today he was just dead, no injuries, no sign of sickness. Everything else is ok. So now I'll be fish shopping soon, let me know if you guys have any suggestions.
So I'll make this short take is doing fantastic, just need to get some herbivores to work on my green algae. Now for a photo dump, and these are my best photos yet.
This tank looks stunning. I think my tank has the same dimensions? But only difference is yours looks a lot better, I'm going to guess this is not your first reef tank, and if I'm wrong then you have the golden touch.
I'm finally going to kick back on the skimmer today after letting the chem clean kill off the red algae I could not get rid of. My zoas are completely uncovered and there is no more of it encroaching on my torch. I'm going to try and photograph my tank once it's back and looking good again...
Well I started the process of killing off the red algae in my tank. So far corals have closed up from the red algae dying. But hopefully no serious damage will be done to them. Tomorrow I do the 20% water change the instructions tell me to do.

So an update on my tank. Red algae is slowly going away, so it's better but not all the way gone. Fish are still alive and so are 2 of my snails I got awhile back.

So I lost another snail. I came home to see that one of my blue legged hermit crabs had decided to have a snack on the snail that could not stick to the wall. Red algae is still getting worse and I don't know the source of it. I keep adding salt to the tank because every thing I have that reads...
Ok so I just checked everything. My hydrometer said I was at 1.023, my refractometer said 1.021. So I went a head and took water out and added salt in. I'm waiting a bit to let it all mix to see how everything is doing

Ok. And my saltwater is already premixed at my lfs. I'll try the hydrometer as well. I think my issue was I used a lot of tap water to clean off my refractometer and even though I dried it my results kept showing my water was to fresh. When I get home I'm going to rinse it off with ro/di water...
