Hi, thanks for your reply. Its not poor gas exchange because I first thought that was the problem and tried increasing the air in the tank by more bubbles and it made no difference in the pH at all. I was told that it could be lack of magnesium due to precipitation from excessive alk levels...

Is there any special procedures to do this? Or do I simply cut up one musroom into like 4 pieces and then tie it on a rock for a few days? If I was to glue them, does it mean it will be stuck there permanently as I heard they do move around. And what glue do you recommend that's safe?

I had the problem of Ich and I found that hyposalinity along with full dosage triple sulpha everyday for 6 days worked. Leaving your tank fishless for 6 weeks will also work. You might want to turn up the temp to speed up the life cycle in your fishless tank.
