    Feeder fish

If you really want to produce a lot of little fish for feeders, I highly suggest convict cichlids. I'm still trying to get rid of all of my extras that survived after the fish that was meant to eat them died. Anyone want some free convicts in Birmingham, Alabama?

    what on earth is this

That appears to be a dragonfly/damselfly nymph. They are predatory and will eat anything they can catch. Best to remove it, especially if you have small fish.

    Found some Bamboo Shrimp :)

If you breed them, you will probably be the first person in the world to do this successfully. Make sure to provide them with areas of swiftly moving water. They must have this in order to survive for very long. Good luck and check out www.petshrimp.com for lots more information on keeping...

    10 gallon lighting conversions

Wal-Mart also sells a CF light that fits exactly in place of the standard incandescent tube lights. You get 20 watts of compact Fluorescent lighting out of two of these $5 bulbs.

    excessively cloudly water

This is a simple bacterial bloom due to too much nutrients in the water. Keep changing water regularly, don't feed your fish for a week, and it will clear up. Don't worry, your fish will be fine without food for a few days.

Substate to go with Eco-complete and questions

It sounds like you didn't adequately rinse the eco complete before adding it to the tank. If you get fluorite, you need to rinse the heck out of it or it will do the same thing.

Anybody have experience with Golden Clams?

They survive best in running water, so they might not be an effective filter in a tank without any water movement. Read more about them here: http://www.sgnis.org/publicat/nespp_4.htm

Anybody have experience with Golden Clams?

These "golden" clams are simply the invasive Asian Clam (Corbicula fluminea). They originally came from Asia (of course) and have spread throughout most of the United States. You can find them in most any stream or river. I pick them up from time to time and toss them in my tanks. They...

Off to the LFS today. Need help picking fish please

The best dither fish I have found for large cichlids are giant danios. They are relatively cheap and very fast and hard to catch, especially if you have a large enough school of them. I know that "6 fish equals a school" gets tossed around all over every fish forum, but I've found that...

    Undergravel Filters

Toss that free underground filter in the garbage immediately and go buy an Aquaclear 100 or similar large HOB filter. Under gravel filters are very inferior to the modern HOB filter. Save yourself some money by going to petsmart with a printout of their online price so they will match it...

    What to do ????!!!

Yes, it does sound like you have nitrite and nitrate mixed up, but I understand you. NitrIte comes first, then NitrAte. Your problem boils down to all the uneaten food that is rotting and causing some sort of bacteria/fungus to grow in the tank. I would suggest backing off on the food for a...

    going through cycle again

You are right that it is probably just a mini-cycle and it is probably nothing to worry about. Time and water change is the only solution. Since you have no ammonia and you do have nitrates, you have not lost any of that necessary bacteria and they will soon catch up with the changes. Change...
