The water in my freshwater acquarium is 17ppm (soft). The only snail killer can find in the stores (had a snail - or something like that) does not work in such soft water. Any suggestions? I do not have real plants and my fish are small and friendly. Not much algae in the tank either...

I'm gonna make the big step and start introducing CO2 injection into my tank. Does anyone have a suggestion for a beginner? Something cheap and safe? Maybe with a level indicator? I've seen those bubble types that require sugar or something like that, but they are only for 20 gallon tanks...

I've gotten rid of my airstone and wold like to get involved in CO2 injection. Any recommendations for a cheap/safe one? Preferrably with some sort of level indicator?

Re: Phosphates :lol: How were you able to tell how high my phosphates are? I didn't test for them cause I couldn't find a test. Is there another way to figure out phosphate numbers based on the numbers I provided? Thanx for the info....

Thank you for your input - and I do have more questions.... :roll: I would actually like to switch over to the indoor tap water (that runs through the water softner) so I can use temperature adjusted water (as opposed to the outdoor tap - especially in the winter). Am I asking for trouble...

I have finally gotten the tests and can give you numbers on my acquarium: The water in my tank currently tests at: PH: 8.4 Ammonia: 0 Nitrate: 5-10 ppm (closer to 5) Nitrite: 0 GH: 304.30 KH: 232.70 I haven't been able to test for Potassium or Phosphorus yet. All the stores around here...
