I have him in brackish water now he is still small only an inch or so he was in really bad shape when I got him. Grey sunken belly and all. Now he is healthy. My plan is to transfer him to a 30 gallon once it has been up for two weeks

It's better to go with over kill on filtration. All my tanks have a larger filter than required. My 50 gallon has a 70 gallon filter and it's been over a year since I lost a fish from that tank

Mollies have a low bio load and the rule works for them I wouldn't do it with cichlids or gobys

Corys are amazing and do well with a large variety of species danios might also be a good fit and they are top dwellers dojo loaches might also work they are very cool but get to be around 12 in

Mollies are fine in a 10 gallon tank. The general rule is 1 gallon for every inch of fish. Mollies get to be a little more than an inch so maybe five mollies in a 10 gallon. A beta probably wouldn't do to well with mollies because they will nip at a betas fins.

If you're thinking it might be ich or you see spots turn up the heater to around 80 and add some aquarium salt
