I have one of those. It took it a while to get going but once it did it really took off.

Mine looks like that too. I over feed him for a while and he kinda chubbed up. He got a big round belly and then when he slimmed down his abdomen was shaped like that. I'm not sure why or if it's a bad sign or what but my DP has looked like that for months and seems fine.

I think the second picture is an oto. The first one might be a Siamese flying fox. I'm no expert but that's my guess.

Filter sand for a pool or spa filter. It's about 10 bucks for a 40 lb bag. Works well for me.

I have the same problem. I read that the diatoms aren't effected by light deprivation but that it should go away on its own. I'm no expert; maybe someone wiser will chime in.

I know. The other fish can usually avoid him. He just sneaks up when they let their guard down. I figure it keeps them on their toes.
