    Vampire shrimp

Shrimp are the greatest addition to any tank. Even though they dont do alot (and even though they filter feed/eat algae, etc, it is so minimal)... they are SO fun to watch.

buying a used tank with stand

It looks like some hornwort in the back. Some high growing crypts and hornwort would be phenominal for a hex tank, as they both grow UP and not out. Angels are another great suggestion. These are the hints you need to be saying, but like I said.... have your husband plan out which fish are...

Well, I sure wasn't expecting this either, Part II.

You being 21, and in college, lets hope the fertility gods stopped with your tank :)

buying a used tank with stand

They arent really harder to keep clean. It will be easier to take care of than your 10 gallon. But it doenst have alot of surface to air contact. Do this for your husband. Have him design what tank he wants and which fish go in there. That helped me convince my wife... something about a man...

    NooB Questions

76-78 is fine for the other fish. Your 2 goldies should be kept less than 70 degrees. Again... you don't have to take them back to the same store. I would take them to any LFS, and get credit, then maybe get a few more freshwater tropical fish that compliment what you have now. That would be...

    Angels, single or a pair?

30 gallon. It didn't say in post or on his info. I went to some of his old posts to find the info. I am thorough :D

    Angels, single or a pair?

With all these fish- 3 zebra loach 1 black spotted bulldog pleco 3 oto's 4 cherry barbs 2 german blue rams 1 Rainbow shark I dont think you should get another one ;) Not to mention, the only way 2 angels would work in a tank that small is if they were a mating pair, and you would have to...

    pH Advice

No. Chillin hit it on the head. The only shifting will occur with a buffer. It is always better to have a stable pH then the "ideal" pH.

    Need Advice, Moving BIG Fish...

Sorry I was late to give advice. I was going to say, toss it over your shoulder and run to the new tank quickly  Good news it sounds bluegrass. If a fish is dying, then it would be getting worse, not better. So keep up the melafix treatment (you must go through a bottle a day!), and...

Questions on African Cichlids, Just got my first fish

Matt aka DeFeKt gave you the perfect advice. Try to mimic the african's natural environment with limestone to create good hardness, plus it looks cool. Some bad news, is that it is harder to keep your plants alive with excessively hard water, so find a happy medium. My advice would be, next...

    Crystal Clear water

Purr gave excellent advice on the boiling. That most likely is what it is, and then it should have VERY little in the next month. Also, about the other filter. I know you have a 70 gallon tank right now, what is your gph of your current filter, and what gallon rating is it for? You might...

    50,000 gallon home aquarium

Seen that before too.... its pretty awesome. I think I would use 1,000 Aquaclear HOBs for filtration, and put 1,000,000 neons in there

    Tank Mate Suggestions

I agree... cories and/or cherry shrimp (Id get both :D) But you need a little cover for both... so maybe a little hornwort, java moss, java ferns for low maintenance plants?

    55 Gallon

It isn't necessarily the pH as much as it is a CONSTANT pH. That is much much MUCH more important. However, if you want to completely mimick the environment, then a higher pH (with limestone to increase hardness) would be ideal for an african tank. They are a little complicated if you are...

    NooB Questions

Great advice thus far. Fishless cycling would be great, but you already got it stocked... so np :) Like lonewolf said, feed the frog with a baster, and feed the catfish at night. Can you find out a little more about the algae eaters and catfish and find out which ones they are? Same thing...

    New 55gall

Didn't see the pictus! My bad! You are right RoK... so would cherry shrimp. If you want shrimp, go with some already decent sized bamboos and you will be fine. They are cool looking too. Your LFS might also call them marble shrimp. They get like 2-3" I believe

    Is this Alright

I too, tried jungle lab's pellets with my gourami, but my fish (none of them) would eat it! So then I used Gel-tek Ultra Cure rX from Aquarium Products, and you can use that with your normal food. They ate like normal, and in fact would try to eat the gel itself. So if they still wont eat it...

    What to get next?

I agree.... a different type of tetra school. Maybe even a pair of rams?

    the perfect aquarium store

At the end of the day, you are only 32...... so why not take the chance? You have plenty of time ahead of you just IN CASE it doesnt work out..... your still young.... kind of ;)

    Changing my 55gal

You could stand to have a topfeeder or 2..... maybe a single dwarf gourami? That would work w/ your list. But good levelling... alot of bottom feeders, and some good schooling middle. Cherry barbs are typically calm, so I would think they should work w/ a gourami.... but ya never know...

    New 55gall

Yes, the cories would work. Make sure to get about 4-5 for a 55 gallon. Bolivian Rams are hardier than GBRs if you havent had either, I would stick with bolivians (unless your water is PERFECT, and you still stand a good chance loosing a GBR). Ghost shrimp would survive, but I would get...

    Algae, what can I do?

I have had great experience with cherry red shrimp.... and they would go well with your stocking list

    What new fish to get?

I havent had any experience with my gourami and my rams in a 30 gallon.... and it is pretty heavily stocked.
