    New set up.

Hi. I am down scaling my 145 LR tank to a 54lr due to health reasons and not being able to dedicate the same amount of time I could previous. I have a fluval 205 in my current tank. Is this going to be to powerful for the 54lr one. I'm tempted to give it a try. Thank in advance.

Okay...you seem to be doing really well. I had do many problems at the beginning I almost gave up completely. I'm guessing the pH is fine because it has been consistently the same reading and my fish haven't been affected.

Just out of interest what is your ph? Mine has been at 8.0 for around 6 months. Doesn't seem to have had any effect on my fish but my tetra app states that this is too high.

Oh yes, you might need clean out the filter ( I do mine every 4 weeks.) Do it when you do a water change, using that water to rinse out the sponges etc. Then fill the filter back up with tank water too. That seems to work best for me. Good luck.

Sorry I really don't know what kind of light it is. It only covers half the tank., I have tried to place it in the centre. Yes, I agree. A bigger light would help. Sorry I'm a bit vague, I am new to this .

I had the same problem when I first had my tank. I ended up completely getting rid of the gravel and replaced it with black sand. Seems to be more manageable all around now. Good luck

    Adding new fishes

It's a homemade tank. Yes, I would say it is approximately 40gal. I think the tetras are silver tail/tips. Not 100% sure. My shark isnt too aggressive when I have plenty of plants but I can't seem to keep them long enough without the fish eating all the leaves.! Is that normal? Sent from my...
