    Saltwater to Brackish

Is it possible to go from saltwater to brackish? I just lost my last fish and have decided to try brackish water. Must I start from scratch? I have live sand and live rock in the tank now.

    Feeding

Roka, no algae. I was just wondering if letting it sit in the fridge for 3 days was okay. It saves me having to chop up the frozen cubes. Also, I forgot to mention I do offer dried seaweek about 3 times a week. The LemonPeel Angel loves it. The others nibble a bit. Thanks for your answer.

    Feeding

I've been putting a Marine Cusine cube, a mysis shrimp cube, some flakes and garlic oil in some tank water and keeping it in the fridge. I feed once a day and this lasts about 3 days. My tank consists of a Lemon Peel Angel, a polka dot cardinal and 4 very, small chromis. They all get along...

    Horned Blenny turned dark

Thanks Roka. I doubt that the temps dropped as I live in AZ and the big problem here is keeping the tank cool. I checked the temps and it had stayed stable at 78. I'm sorry too for your loss. I will probably get another blenny as they are the cutest fish and he was a great addition to my...

    Horned Blenny turned dark

Roka, we had a bad storm in which we lost electricty for 8 hours. Although I hooked the tank up to a generator, I didn't know the filter didn't re-start. I'm thinking that possibly the bacteria in the filter media died and somehow killed him although the gal at the lfs says she thinks it's...

    Horned Blenny turned dark

My blenny died last night. I am not sure if he stressed out or what happened. Thanks for your replies. I guess the first rule of successful fishkeeping is to not get too attached. (:

    Horned Blenny turned dark

I have had my horned blenny for about 2 months now and he has been thriving. We had a bad storm the other night and the electricity went out for a few hours. We hooked up a generator but for some reason, and unknown to us, the filter had quit running. Today my blenny looks dark and has been...

    WOW, what a difference

I just melt the cubes in a little tankwater. I mix frozen Marine Cuisine and frozen mysis and sometimes a little flake...add garlic and I feed using a turkey baster. They go crazy. :)

    Horned Blenny

Is the spililina in Marine Cuisine not enough? I'll get that tomorrow when I go to the LFS. He seems to prefer the shrimp. I thought that was strange too. But, he seems happy and healthy so far. I just want to be sure.

    Horned Blenny

I have a horned blenny and was wondering what to feed him. He's been in my tank for about 2 weeks and seems to be doing okay but I want to be sure he's getting enough to eat. I feed mysis shrimp, marine cuisine and flakes. Is that enough? The cleanup crew eats the rest. I also have about 25...

    Skimmer for 29 gallon

That's what I was afraid of...you get what you pay for. Guess I'll have to break down and spend some serious money on my skimmer. :D

    Skimmer for 29 gallon

Roka, I had heard that but I'm thinking that it would be an added protection. Phish, I saw that JEBO on Ebay also and am interested to know how good it is. I hope someone here has tried it or knows something about it. :)

    Skimmer for 29 gallon

I have a 29g FOWLR tank with a bunch of inverts and so far 1 horned Blenny. A skimmer is next on my list of must haves but I'm really confused as to which to get without breaking the bank. The Berlin is inexpensive but does it work? I've seen some on Ebay too that are relatively inexpensive...

    Advice please

Wow, you read my mind, Devillishturtles. I had decided on pajama cardinals but am not certain if I should do 2 or 3. I've heard uneven numbers. I do a 15-20%water change every week and the cards are small so I think 3 might be okay if I keep tabs on the water.

    Advice please

Thank you all for your input. I was told by the sales manager at my LFS that I could add more fish if I had a protein skimmer. So far all I have is a horned blennie. Happiest, little fish I've ever seen. :D He also said that so much depends on so many things that you can't set a fast rule...

    Advice please

Thank you for your advice. Now I have to decide which I want....angel or small school. I really appreciate all the input here. :) I don't want to kill anything.

    Advice please

I did plan on waiting. So, if I were to add a dwarf angel now, is there a small fish I could also add in a school after I wait a couple of months? I'd like to have 3 of something small...no damsels please. I can see already I'm going to have to go to a larger tank soon. lol

    Advice please

I have a 29 gallon tank, it's inhabitants now include 5 blue legged crabs, 1 large scarlet crab, 1 peppermint shrimp, and Lennie the horned blenny. Will it be ok to add 3 green or blue chromis? I also would like a dwarf angel of some kind in a few months but I'm wondering if that may be...

    Moving sand

I was thinking there might be a way to siphon the sand out. But, I guess if I'm careful, a cup will work as well. Thanks much Marc and Fluff.

    Moving sand

Marc, thanks. But what is the best way to get some of it out of the 5 gallon without disturbing the critters in there? I could scoop it out with a cup but I hate stressing them too much as they will be stressed enough when they move to their bigger home. There is nothing in the 29 gallon now...

    Moving sand

Has anyone found an easy way to move sand (without the water) from one tank to another? I want to move some of the LS in my nano to my 29 gallon but since I still have crabs, snails and a shrimp in the nano, I don't want to disturb them too much. I just need enough to seed the dead sand...

    Stocking a 29 gallon

Thank you all for the help. Those neon gobies look pretty cool. And I love the royal gramma. Good thing I have a few weeks before I introduce any fish. LOL Are green chromis not a good fish for this size tank? I was thinking a small school of them.

    Stocking advice

I'm in the process of cycling a 29 gallon (frozen shrimp is doing it's job :D) and was thinking of a small school (3) of green chromis and maybe a dwarf angel. How would those get along? This is a FOWLR tank.

    Thinking about a betta

Thank you all for your wonderful advice. Now I can't wait til I can get my new friend. Do you keep anything else with them such as an algae eater of some kind or other small fish or are they best alone? I only have 5 gallons but I don't want him to be lonely either. Also, where is the best...
