    Possible disease or fish fighting?

I've seen barbs rip each other's mouths off before from lip locking. Might have to add one or two more barbs to diffuse any tension.

    Betta bowl

Once a week is fine. Their natural environment doesn't have filters or heaters or air stones. They're obligate breathers, meaning they take in oxygen into their labyrinth organ rather than rely on water quality as much as other fish. That being said, being responsible humans we need to desire...

Post your full tank shot here.

I appreciate the kind words! I've got another 10 gallon with platys, but I sort of throw the trimmed plants in there so it's in disarray most of the time. Couple more bettas as well.

Aquarium salt doesn’t work. What’s next?

I agree with V. I think stepping back on the water changes. Also, you might need to use the high range pH test to get a better reading. Usually when the low range/standard pH test maxes out at 7.6, it's usually higher than that.

Is this tank too heavily planted

Neon Tetras would look awesome in there with the black substrate and plenty of greenery.

    Plant identification help

So I purchased a tissue culture of this little wad of green plant material and managed to not at least take a picture of the name in the package. Now it's this huge mass of plant that can break loose and get in my filter, and I'm not even sure if it's supposed to float or be anchored down. Any...

    Betta in my tank?

I have a male half-moon plakat beta in my 6.2 gallon bow front with 3 platys, a gold zebra loach that's growing way too fast, and a bumblebee goby. I've never observed any real aggression besides the occasional chasing. It's definitely up to the betta, but I think it'll be alright. Good thing...

    Angelfish all better!

Anacharis is a pretty good starter plant. I bought one bundle from petco for 2.99 about six months ago. The bundle included 4 or 5 individual strands and I find myself trimming and throwing it away every month. I've got like 10 feet of it now in my 55 gallon. Grows pretty much only vertical.

    Toxic gravel????

Have you tested your water before putting it in the tank before?

    What's wrong with my betta?

It looks like scale damage. Sometimes one of my bettas will lose some scales when he rubs up against the driftwood in the tank. Another one of my bettas has recently been a picky eater. This may be because I'm constantly changing their diets up to try and include the broadest range of...

    Betta fin deterioration

I'm not entirely sure if this is related, but the only time my bettas have shown signs of fin damage is when I move them from one container to another. It seems like the next day or two the damage will become clear.

What is this hopefully safe worm?

What's in the tank besides snails? How long has it been established? Usually these microorganisms are the result of too much available food in the tank. If they've got plenty to eat, they keep populating.

Big Box Chain Store "inch-per-gallon" rule, what do you think?

I work as a aquatics specialist, and it's corporate policy to treat every type of illness we find. They send us multiple types of herbal remedies for everything you can imagine. They also supply isolation kits so we can separate one tank from the rest of the sump to prevent infestation. But...

Big Box Chain Store "inch-per-gallon" rule, what do you think?

Most people don't have two filters on a ten gallon, so I'm sure you're fine.

Either I'm going crazy or my fish are!!!

It's weird you post this, as I just noticed for the first time my platy had his tail nipped on. Weather? Time is year maybe? Also the vibrating thing they do is showing submission I believe. Clowns do the same thing.

How To Fix My Tank Parameters?

My water has ammonia straight from the tap, but it's well water and I live on an animal refuge, so that's kind of a given. Because of this, I have to treat with prime everytime I do a WC. Also, I have crashed a cycle before it was complete by doing too many water changes. If you keep taking...

    Freshwater Puffers

If they are the leopard puffer /green spotted puffer, they will need to eventually be around 1.020 specific gravity (pretty much marine salinity) when they reach adulthood, and brackish in between. As babies they are OK in freshwater, although they can be aggressive during feeding time and are...

How To Fix My Tank Parameters?

Seems like your 5 gallon and 1.5 liter are in the middle of a cycle since you've got nitrite showing up so prominently. Doing water changes could crash the cycle though, so I would be adding bacteria or media of some kind from an already cycled tank. Just let it ride out and make sure your...

One white spot on each fin of goldfish?

Hm, I'm honestly not sure. I would just keep an eye on it and if it starts growing or changing in any way I would pick up an herbal anti-fungal /bacterial medication to treat whatever it is. Doesn't sound malicious though. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Aquarium Advice mobile app

One white spot on each fin of goldfish?

If it's a fuzzy dot, it could be a fungus.
