Ok, I have a 55 gallon tank, and so far I have: 8 rosey barbs 2 platies 1 rainbow shark 1 blue gourami 1 sailfin pleco 1 mystery snail I plan to add about 3 more female rosey barbs to take some stress off the 2 I have, and need some ideas of some other fish that would work in this setting.

Same deal with my tank, he's out all the time, and he's the only real bottom dweller. Most of the fish in my tanks are rosey barbs.

My new sailfin pleco almost never hides, he just attaches himself to the top of the driftwood or goes and lays on my air stone and looks at me. He flares his fins every time he sees me.

So, are there any water parameters that kill mystery snails? I've had 2 pass on in 3 days, just trying to find out what range my tests should be in for them to keep going.

I read somewhere that some green tiger barbs are "painted" to bring out the color more, that could have bothered their sensitivies along with the shock of a new home....

Introduced into tank at the same time, they each lived 1 day after the other....1st 1 day, 2nd died the 2nd day, 3rd died the 3rd day. I have sand so I don't think gravel hurt them = /

I had 3 cory cats that wound up dead, the water parameters are fine (0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, between 5 and 10 nitrate). Any ideas? Current stock list is a 3 spot gourami, and 6 rosey barbs...1 rosie barb doesn't school with the rest btw.

My rosey barbs like to follow anyone who walks in front of the aquarium, and they sit in a corner looking somewhat dissappointed when no one will keep walking. My cory cats also seem to think they are rosey barbs sometimes, they school with them for some reason.

The Petsmart near me is actually cleaner than the LFS, it looks well taken care of.

Well, I'm trading in my pictus cat tomorrow, and I've picked up 3 cory cats for my 55 gallon cleaning crew. What I'm wondering is if I can stock a red-tail shark in with them, or will he be too aggressive for the lil' guys?

My air pumps that I used to have were really noisy, when I wrapped them with a rubberband most of the noise went away for some reason.

I would love to get some cory cats, would they work with the pictus though? I'm looking for a LFS that carries rams atm too, would love some GBR. I also wondered if any cheap ghost shrimp might survive for a while in that tank setup

1st water change got nitrates down to around 80ppm. The water in the kit for first test was slightly lighter than the 160, but darker than 80. So I was guessing in the 160 range. edit again: Did another 50% water change since it was around 80, I got it to about the 60ish range I'd think...
