    Found this Drift wood

I found this beautiful driftwood, it is actually a root and step of a chopped plant which still had few small leaflets. So I got this home and now boiling before I let it dry fully. Are there any risks of keeping such a wood in my established tank?

    Sick Mickeymouse Platyies

I never had success with platies till now, but this time I was quite optimistic as I did a full fishless cycling and the tried to provide the best I could do.. but it did not help :(

    Sick Mickeymouse Platyies

Here is the photo of the platy. I dont know if Gaurami was the reason for the platy to be sick. But now that it is sick I saw the gauramies nipping at the sick platies fins and tails :( unfortunately I do not have any extra tank where I can keep the platy :( not sure what to do

    Sick Mickeymouse Platyies

At present I do not have any pics, will upload once I am back home. So the two platies that I am saying are sick have different behaviour, Platy-1: Have clamped fins, but very active, feeding on flakes as well as sinking shrimp pellets that I feed for the pandas. Once in a while floats at the...

    Sick Mickeymouse Platyies

Why are my micky mouse platies dull? Their fins are clamped and they are sitting on the floor of the tank :( Water parameters all good, Ammonia - 0 Nitrites - 0 Nitrates - 10~20 pH - 7.6 Temperature - 77 - 79 All other fishes seem to be doing good except these two. What can i do?

Should I get my goldfish another fish to live with

I would suspect it is depressed because of water quality, since it is just a 4 gallon, if you are not doing daily water changes the water will get poisoned by ammonia/nitrites very quickly.

Should I turn off my water filter?

You can tie a sponge around the water suction pipe so the filter doesn't hurt the golds. Never turn it off.

    Filter Advice Needed

I dont think you need to replace it every 4 weeks :) You can wash it using tank water when you see that there is lot of accumulation and the water is not passing through it.

Overly ambitious new girl tanks her first fishless cycle?

The pH of the tank going to 6 is normal during the cycling process as lots of acidic waste is produced by the bacteria. Like you already told, get some crushed corals, get a small filter bag (You should find it in FS) add the corals after washing and that should keep your pH stable. Also if you...

Still taking 48+ hours to clear 1 ppm of ammonia

pH of 6 will actually stall or slower the process extremely. I had got into similar issue and then I placed a cup of crushed coral that is keeping my pH stable and the cycle completed. I had used tetra safestart to start my cycle and I finished by cycle in 3 weeks.

    Stalled cycle?

Ammonia increase to 0.25? I guess that should never happen, if it is happening then probably your cycle is not complete or something went wrong killing all the beneficial bacteria.

    Aragonite Sand for Planted Tank

Ok I actually had to replace the aragonite sand back with my regular black gravel because my pH was too high for any fish I guess and since I want to have a betta in it, I thought I will not take risk.

    Aragonite Sand for Planted Tank

    Second Filter

I did add a fluval 20 filter but I have kept it at minimum capacity.

    Second Filter

Hello people, I was thinking of adding a second internal filter (tetra whisper 10) for my 20 gallon topfin tank that has a Topfin 20 HOB filter. I am thinking of doing this because the Aquaadvice website says that my filtration capacity is 98% and my stocking level is 75%. I plan to add another...

    Stomach Bulge after Food

Sure. But it seems like few of these guys eat faster while others may not have got enough yet. I have few platys which are not as fast as these tetras so by the time they eat these guys have already over fed themselves. How can I manage this? [emoji30]

    Aragonite Sand for Planted Tank

Is the caribSea Aragonite sand good for plants? I know it raises the pH of the tank. I have a small 5 gallon waterfall tank which I am planning to add the above sand. Can I add live plants in it? It will be a freshwater tank. Thank you

    Stomach Bulge after Food

Is it normal for the pristella tetra stomach to bulge a bit after eating the flakes? Does that indicate I am overfeeding them? Here is a photo just for your reference Thank you in advance. Is there any better way of adding right amount of food other than the normal "what fish can finish in...

    Ideal KH and GH

My tank is already planted. Just attaching the picture of my tank so you get an Idea of how much plants are in. As you say, my kH and gH are stable and are always at this level.

    Ideal KH and GH

Hello Folks, What is the ideal KH and GH for a new tank that has recently completed cycling and is housing 50% stocking of fish? Here is the tetra 6-in-1 strip results. So if you see my alkalinity is quite low. How do I fix that? What is its adverse effect on the fish? I did a PWC today to...

Need help, Roadblock in cycling new tank

The bacteria required to convert ammonia to nitrite does its job in high temperature of 78-80F or so. 1 or 2 degrees more is even better, but since your tank is without heater (Which I understand why you have not installed because you plan to add gold fishes later) I can think of few reasons...
