Need Advice: 29 Gallon + fish

I pretty much thought Seachem was more of a mineral additive unless you're talking about the test kit? SEED definitely won't hurt, but how any probiotic works is dependent on it's shelf life. If a bacteria can't feed, it can't divide, if it can't divide, it dies. Even with human probiotic...

    Dosing medicine

If you're sure it's columnaris, you only need the Furan-2 and it will not kill the beneficial bacteria in your filter system. It also treats a lot of other fish diseases as well. Aren't sponges the only things you have in your filter? The only thing you would have to take out is any pads or bags...

    Unhealthly Betta?

The Anubias would be better than peace lily. And until that sponge is seasoned, you'll have to change water daily.

    Dosing medicine

Before I answer that question, I remember your filter being gravity fed sponges that looked unused they were so clean. So tell me why you're preparing to use Furan-2 and Kanaplex in the 1st place?

    Stocking?

1 more honey Gourami should be ok. It's small enough to not overload your bio system and since it's an Anabantoid, it will use more oxygen from the air bubble it takes in it's labyrinth organ than it will from the tank water.

    BEST LIGHTING [emoji848]

You best options is to go into Google and type in "LED aquarium lighting for aquatic plants". You will get a lot of comparative prices listing the name of the company for each.

I forgot to mention to not worry about the pH 7.0. A .2 difference in pH in fish water is actually the amount that can be done instantly safely. The biological filtration activity in the filter may drop your pH anyway depending on the buffering chemicals used by your water company.

    Unhealthly Betta?

1st of all, how small of a bowl and is the sponge filter already cycled. The peace lily would have to have been grown hyponically and the lily can't take up the surface of the water. If a betta is unable to exchange the air bubble in the labyrinth organ in it's head every once in awhile, it will...

    Stocking a 36 gallon tank

I must apologize. I reread your post. The clown pleco is fine. I don't know how I got clown loach in my head...so yes, they will all work fine together. Make sure you have some driftwood for your pleco.

    Stocking a 36 gallon tank

In all of most accounts, I'd say yes as long as you don't add all 21 fish at once. My concern is that even though the clown loach is one of the smaller loaches, it's a super pooper adding as much ammonia to the water as a goldfish. It is also very nocturnal and will spend most of the day hiding...

Help - Tank Cycle sending me crazy...

I hope this is not an insulting question, but as you are cycling a new tank, my assumption is that you may be new to the hobby. When you do water changes, you do add chlorine remover to the fresh water before you refill the tank with it...right? It really is abnormal for ammonia to just sit at 4...

    Unhealthly Betta?

The smaller tank is a good idea. Just as another safety precaution, seed the new little tank with BB culture from another tank and use a small sponge filter. The little power filters have just enough room behind them for the the betta to get behind and get stuck and drowned. It happened to 2 of...

    Large pore reusable sponge

It may be large pore foamed rubber that your looking for. I don't know where you can pick that up in bulk rolls, but you try looking in the heating and air conditioning section for the cut your own size filter medium. That may be a spot to look in housewares and hardware stotes. A shop for...

    Unhealthly Betta?

The fish enjoying all the movement and/ or the treatment itself, I highly doubt. I only gave directions for use being concerned about the treatment part. It's one of the safest disease and parasite treatments you could use and highly effective...for freshwater fish only.

Any tips or advice for doing a water change?

My angelfish I've used them im conjunction with other filters with fantastic results. With today's technology, they're a lot easier if you make yourself a vacuum cleaner with a small fountain pump so the hose will fit under the plates. And believe me, a fiber optic camera is a great help too. If...

    Unhealthly Betta?

Actually salt baths are often used in the treatment of fish ailments. It releives fin rot and even prevents ich from sticking to your fish. Sodium Chloride is the salt I'm referring to, but you must get aquarium salt. You can buy table salt without iodide, but it still has silicates to prevent...

    Unhealthly Betta?

I read Angels post about possible parasites. Go ahead and do the red light test for worms if you like. Angelove I trust. However, mentioned that he doesn't flare, but he is flaring a little in the 1st pic as you can see a little of the solid parts of the gill membrane slightly thrusted forward...

    Unhealthly Betta?

Not any other suggestions that wouldn't involve cutting his fins down...but it's too late to consider that as the curvature of his pectoral fins is now permanent and something that wouldn't even probably wouldn't be noticed by just looking may be a permanent downward curvature in the spine...

    Unhealthly Betta?

It's pitiful that something so beautiful to us can be such misery to the poor creature with the beauty. When playing with genetics, the one doing the playing can't predict the results nor the suffering of the end creature. His fin bones aren't broken, but I could see some curvature in the nub...

Any tips or advice for doing a water change?

No offense taken! I do what I do that works for me like you said. Thanks to technology, it is an easy and quick process for me. And having said that, I have not recommend undergravel filters to anyone in 25 years. Just because of the old maintenance rituals that had to be done that you...
